About the programme

The Cyber Security and Digital Forensic Centre (CSDFC), Chanakya National Law University (CNLU), Patna, in collaboration with Software Technology Parks of India (STPI), a premier S&T organisation under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, is organising a five-day, in-person, practice-oriented, hands-on and virtual-lab driven Executive Programme on "Translating Law into Intelligent Systems: Building AI-Powered Data Compliance & GRC Platforms" from 26 to 30 October 2026.

The brochure notes that the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 has sharpened the need for interdisciplinary expertise combining law, technology and governance, and that organisations increasingly need professionals who can translate legal provisions into machine-readable logic and embed them into AI-powered systems for real-time compliance monitoring.

Objectives

  • Develop an understanding of data protection laws and regulatory frameworks
  • Enable participants to translate legal requirements into system design and logic
  • Provide hands-on experience in building AI-powered compliance and GRC platforms
  • Foster interdisciplinary skills across law, data governance and technology
  • Promote practical exposure through virtual labs and real-world use cases

Programme outline

  • Day 1, Legal Foundations and Regulatory Landscape: India's DPDP framework, GDPR vs DPDP and other global standards, cross-border data flow, legal obligations and compliance requirements; Virtual Lab 1 on mapping DPDP provisions into compliance checklists.
  • Day 2, Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) Frameworks: GRC fundamentals, risk identification and compliance mapping, policies, controls and audit mechanisms; Virtual Lab 2 on designing a GRC framework for a hypothetical organisation.
  • Day 3, Translating Law into Technology Systems: converting legal text into system logic, workflow design for compliance enforcement, privacy-by-design and data architecture; Virtual Lab 3 on compliance workflows and rule engines.
  • Day 4, AI Integration and Automated Compliance Systems: AI, ML and NLP in legal compliance, building AI-powered compliance platforms, enterprise integration; Virtual Lab 4 on a prototype compliance dashboard (low-code/no-code tools).
  • Day 5, Ethics, Implementation and Capstone Project: continuous compliance, ethics, accountability and AI governance, industry use cases and career pathways; Virtual Lab 5 capstone with expert evaluation and feedback.

The programme runs 4-5 sessions per day, each of 60-90 minutes, including lab work, discussions and assessments.

Eligibility and target participants

Eligibility criteria (as stated in the brochure): Any graduate.

The brochure lists the target participants as:

  • Law students and faculty members
  • IT and cybersecurity professionals
  • Compliance officers and legal practitioners
  • Policy analysts and government officials
  • Researchers in legal-tech and AI governance

Mode, venue and certification

Mode: Physical, in-person; practical, hands-on, virtual-labs driven.

Venue: Three days at Chanakya National Law University, Nyaya Nagar, Mithapur, Patna - 800001, Bihar, and two days at Software Technology Parks of India, 1st Floor, Patliputra Colony, Rajeev Nagar Road, near New Government Polytechnic College, Patna - 800013, Bihar.

Certification: Participants who successfully complete the programme and the capstone project will be awarded a joint certificate by CNLU, Patna and STPI, India.

Fee

Rs 69,500 per participant, inclusive of all taxes. The fee is remitted by NEFT, RTGS or Demand Draft; the bank details are in the official brochure.

The brochure states that the University is a public university not registered under GST, so a GST tax invoice will not be issued; a receipt will be furnished against every remittance.

How to apply

Fill in the Nomination Proforma (Annexure I in the official brochure) with the particulars of the nominating office, the nominees and the fee remittance (number of nominees, total amount remitted, mode of payment, UTR or instrument number and date). Send the completed proforma to csdfc@cnlu.ac.in, with a copy to registrar@cnlu.ac.in.

After remittance, indicate the transaction reference (UTR) number and date in the proforma and intimate it to csdfc@cnlu.ac.in.
