About the Journal

The GLC-SPIL International Law Journal is the flagship, double-blind peer-reviewed journal published by the Students for the Promotion of International Law (SPIL), Government Law College, Mumbai, one of the oldest law schools in Asia (established 1855). SPIL Mumbai invites original and unpublished submissions for Volume VII, Issue I of the Journal.

Theme and Scope

The Journal welcomes original submissions on any topic relating to Public or Private International Law. There is no restrictive theme; contributions across the breadth of international legal scholarship are encouraged.

Who Can Submit

Submissions are open to undergraduate students, postgraduate students, research scholars, academicians and industry practitioners. A maximum of two authors is permitted per submission.

Submission Categories and Word Limits

  • Long Articles: 6,000 to 10,000 words
  • Short Articles / Essays: 4,000 to 6,000 words
  • Case Comments / Legislative Notes: 2,000 to 3,000 words
  • Treaty / Instrument Analyses: 2,000 to 3,000 words
  • Book Reviews: 2,000 to 3,000 words

All word limits are exclusive of footnotes and bibliography. Each submission must be accompanied by an abstract of not more than 300 words.

Manuscript and Formatting Guidelines

  • The plagiarism limit is 10%; submissions exceeding this limit will be disqualified.
  • Authors must use British spelling conventions as set out in the latest edition of the Oxford English Dictionary.
  • Citations must follow the Harvard Bluebook (21st Edition), placed in footnotes only, in adherence with the GLC-SPIL ILJ Style Guide.

Fee

There is no fee for submission or publication.

How to Submit

All submissions must be made online through the official Google Form submission portal. Queries may be addressed to the editorial board at spilmumbai@gmail.com. Notification of acceptance is expected in the first week of October 2026, with publication in November 2026.
