About the organisers

Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences (SIMATS) is a multidisciplinary deemed-to-be university, declared under Section 3 of the UGC Act 1956 and accredited with an NAAC A++ grade, that describes itself as dedicated to academic excellence, innovation and research with a strong emphasis on interdisciplinary education and global exposure.

Saveetha School of Law (SSL), approved by the Bar Council of India and ranked 19th among law institutions in the NIRF rankings, is the law faculty of SIMATS. It is known for a dynamic curriculum and an experiential learning approach built around moot courts, internships and legal aid initiatives, aimed at producing socially responsible and future-ready legal professionals.

About the competition

Inter Lawfest 2026 is a platform that celebrates innovation, legal excellence and entrepreneurial thinking, bringing together students, thinkers and future leaders to explore the intersection of law, technology and business.

The Legal Startup Pitch Competition, held under Inter Lawfest 2026, focuses on innovation within the legal domain. Participants present ideas relating to LegalTech, access to justice, policy innovation and legal services. The competition aims to inspire solutions that make legal systems more efficient, accessible and technology-driven, and invites participants to demonstrate problem-solving and entrepreneurial skills while receiving insights from experts and professionals.

The organisers list the highlights as recognition and awards for the top legal startup ideas, interaction with expert mentors and industry professionals, and e-certificates for all participants.

Who can participate

  • Participation is open to students from all disciplines.
  • Teams may consist of 2 to 4 members.
  • Each team must present an original idea.
  • Audience participation is also open, at a separate and lower registration fee.

Rules and guidelines

  • Pitch duration is 15 to 20 minutes, followed by a question-and-answer session.
  • Presentation slides are mandatory.
  • Plagiarism will lead to disqualification.
  • Evaluation will be based on innovation, feasibility, impact and presentation.
  • The decision of the judges will be final.

The competition is conducted entirely in online mode, so there is no travel or accommodation cost.

How to register

Registration is through the official Google Form linked below. The form asks for the names of Team Speaker 1 and Team Speaker 2 (both mandatory) and Team Speaker 3 (optional), a mobile number and the name of the institution.

Each team must upload its startup proposal as a single file of up to 10 MB, indicate whether it is registering as a team or as participants in the audience, enter the transaction ID for the fee payment and upload the payment proof as a second file of up to 10 MB. Google account sign-in is required because the form accepts file uploads.

The organisers have not announced a separate registration cut-off date. The form is open at the time of drafting and registration necessarily closes by the competition date of 16 September 2026, so intending teams should register well before that day.

Ownership of the ideas

The organisers state that the ideas presented during the Startup Pitch Competition will remain the intellectual property of the participants and will not be used by Saveetha School of Law without their consent. If participants wish to further develop or implement their ideas, Saveetha School of Law is open to collaboration and support opportunities.
