The International Journal of Legal Information (IJLI) is the official publication of the International Association of Law Libraries (IALL). First published on 1 March 1973, it is published by De Gruyter Brill three times a year (Spring, Summer and Winter). The IJLI aims to promote the global exchange of legal information and serves the international community of law librarians, legal scholars and practitioners through original articles, conference papers, bibliographies, book reviews, a regular column on law librarians and the International Calendar of conferences and events.
The journal strives for content primarily of interest to law librarians and information professionals around the world. In addition to research articles on law libraries, law librarianship and legal research, it is interested in comparative law papers addressing cutting-edge topics such as artificial intelligence (AI). It aims to publish a diverse range of scholarship authored by a wide range of authors from around the globe.
The call is open internationally; the journal states that it aims to publish scholarship "authored by a wide range of authors from around the globe". Indian law librarians, researchers, academics and practitioners may submit.
Submissions are first reviewed for topic appropriateness and overall quality and are checked for plagiarism; papers outside the scope or below the expected quality are rejected without peer review. Selected articles undergo double-blind peer review by at least two external reviewers, often including a law librarian. Turnaround can be considerably longer than two weeks, and authors are often asked to revise several times. The Editor-in-Chief takes the final decision.
No submission fee is stated on the journal page. De Gruyter Brill offers optional open access publication; where an author chooses it, the article processing charge (APC) is confirmed after acceptance and may be covered by an institutional agreement with the publisher.
Create an account on the IJLI ScholarOne site (mc.manuscriptcentral.com/ijli) and upload the manuscript. Read De Gruyter Brill's Publishing Ethics and Repository Policy before submitting. Questions about submission or peer review go to the Editor-in-Chief, Julienne Grant (jgrant27@uic.edu on the publisher page; the IALL page also gives journaleditor@iall.org).
The IJLI accepts submissions on a rolling basis; there is no closing date.
