International Seminar on Forensic Science and Law in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: Redefining Justice

T.S. Mishra Law School is organising an International Seminar on Forensic Science and Law in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: Redefining Justice on 20 September 2026, held to mark World Forensic Science Day. The seminar responds to the convergence of forensic science, law and artificial intelligence that has reshaped how crimes are detected, investigated, prosecuted and adjudicated.

Machine learning, big data analytics, digital forensics, forensic genomics, biometric identification and cyber investigation have improved the speed and precision of forensic analysis, but they also raise questions about the authenticity, admissibility, transparency, explainability, accountability and ethical use of algorithmic systems. The seminar brings scholars, forensic scientists, judges, prosecutors, investigators, policymakers, cybersecurity experts and students together to work through those questions and to push for legal frameworks, scientific validation and regulatory mechanisms that protect fairness, due process and human rights.

T.S. Mishra University, Lucknow was established as a memorial to the late Justice Tribeni Sahai Misra, a judge of the Allahabad High Court who went on to serve as Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court, Governor of Assam and Meghalaya, and Lok Ayukta of Bihar. The university was founded by his son, Shri Satish Chandra Misra.

T.S. Mishra School of Law runs a five-year integrated B.B.A. LL.B. and B.A. LL.B., a three-year LL.B., a one-year LL.M. with specialisations in Criminal and Security Law, Constitutional and Administrative Law, and Corporate and Cyber Law, and a full-time PhD in Law. The school works to an outcome-based model aligned with the National Education Policy, 2020.

The call is organised around ten themes. The list is illustrative, not exhaustive, and a paper may be presented on any topic relevant to the seminar title.

• Digital Forensics and Cybercrime: digital evidence collection and preservation; blockchain for evidence integrity; cloud and mobile device forensics; cryptocurrency investigations and financial cybercrime; AI-driven cybercrime detection.
• AI, Evidence and Criminal Justice: admissibility of AI-generated forensic evidence; standards for scientific reliability; judicial evaluation of algorithmic evidence; AI and the burden of proof; cross-border challenges in digital evidence.
• Ethics, Human Rights and Responsible AI: privacy and data protection in forensic investigation; algorithmic bias and discrimination; explainable AI and transparency; human rights implications of AI surveillance; ethical governance of forensic AI.
• Emerging Technologies in Forensic Science: AI and forensic genomics; next-generation DNA sequencing; deepfake detection and forensic authentication; IoT forensic investigation; robotics and autonomous forensic systems.
• Forensic Medicine and AI: AI in forensic radiology and virtual autopsy; intelligent toxicological screening; AI-assisted injury and trauma analysis; medico-legal documentation; challenges in AI-supported death investigations.
• Environmental and Wildlife Forensics: AI for environmental crime investigation; wildlife crime detection; remote sensing and geospatial forensic technologies; climate change and environmental justice; biodiversity conservation.
• Capacity Building, Education and Quality Assurance: AI literacy for forensic and legal professionals; accreditation and quality standards for AI-enabled laboratories; digital transformation of forensic education; interdisciplinary collaboration; international best practices in forensic governance.
• Comparative Legal Frameworks and Policy: international regulation of AI in criminal justice; comparative forensic laws; digital evidence under international conventions; policy frameworks for trustworthy AI; future reforms in forensic and criminal justice legislation.
• Future Frontiers of Forensic Science and Justice: smart forensic laboratories; quantum computing and forensic security; autonomous crime investigation systems; metaverse and virtual crime investigation; forensic science in the era of intelligent justice.

• Academicians and researchers in law, forensic science, criminology and psychology.
• International delegates, industry experts and practitioners from the legal profession, the police and forensic laboratories.
• Judges, prosecutors and investigating officers.
• PhD research scholars and students of law and the behavioural sciences.

• Submissions must be in English only. The full article must run to 3,000-5,000 words including footnotes.
• Co-authorship is permitted up to two members.
• The abstract must be submitted in MS Word (.doc or .docx) and must not exceed 300 words.
• Each abstract must carry a cover page stating the name(s) of the author(s), contact number(s), institutional affiliation, email ID and designation, along with a maximum of five keywords.
• The article must be the original work of the authors. Work published elsewhere, submitted or selected for publication elsewhere, or failing the organisers' plagiarism check will be disqualified immediately.
• The organisers reserve the right to cancel or disqualify any entry that violates the guidelines, and the decision of the panel and T.S. Mishra Law School is final.

• Body text in Times New Roman, font size 12, line spacing 1.5, justified.
• Footnotes in Times New Roman, font size 10, line spacing 1.
• Margins of 2.54 cm (1 inch) on each side.
• Citations must follow the Bluebook 20th edition or APA style.

The top 20 articles will be published as an edited book bearing an ISBN, depending on the quality of the articles. Selection or non-selection of a paper rests entirely with T.S. Mishra Law School.

• Students: Rs 600 for single authorship, Rs 500 for each co-author in a co-authored paper, and Rs 400 for each author from T.S. Mishra University.
• Research Scholars: Rs 800 for single authorship and Rs 700 for each co-author.
• Academicians and Legal Professionals: Rs 1,200 for single authorship and Rs 1,000 for each co-author.
• International Delegates: Rs 2,000 for single authorship and Rs 1,500 for each co-author.

The fee is paid by scanning the QR code printed in the seminar brochure. The registration fee is non-refundable once registration is complete.

Registration and abstract submission open on 10 August 2026. Submit the abstract through the official abstract submission Google Form by 5 September 2026, and email the article to tsmlsseminarconference@gmail.com with the subject line "Submission for International Seminar 2026". The body of the email must state the author's name, address, email ID, contact number and the name of the college or university, and the article must be attached in .doc or .docx format.

Authors whose abstracts are selected will be intimated by 8 September 2026 and must complete registration through the separate registration form by the same date. Full papers are due by 15 September 2026. The seminar itself runs in hybrid mode on 20 September 2026 at the T.S. Mishra University campus in Lucknow, with an online option for those who cannot attend in person.
