Journal of Indian Legal Thought (ISSN 2249-9989), Volume 20 (2026)

The Journal of Indian Legal Thought (JILT), ISSN 2249-9989, has been published since 2003 by the School of Indian Legal Thought (SILT), Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, Kerala. The official call describes it as a double-blind peer-reviewed law journal that is included in the UGC CARE List.

The School of Indian Legal Thought was established in 1989 to impart integrated legal education through Under-Graduate, Post-Graduate and research programmes. JILT is its flagship publication and aims to promote systematic research and the study of law through innovative, interdisciplinary and critical approaches.

This call, published by Mahatma Gandhi University on 7 August 2026, is for the 20th Volume (2026) of the journal. Only original and unpublished manuscripts are invited.

The call invites high-quality contributions from:

• Academicians
• Researchers
• Legal practitioners
• Law students

A maximum of two authors is permitted per submission.

Manuscripts are invited in the following categories. All word counts include footnotes.

• Research Articles: 7,000 to 12,000 words
• Case Notes and Legislative Comments: 1,500 to 3,000 words
• Book Reviews: 1,500 to 3,000 words

The call does not prescribe a theme; JILT invites work across the study of law, with an emphasis on innovative, interdisciplinary and critical approaches.

• Manuscripts must be submitted in Microsoft Word (.doc / .docx) format.
• Times New Roman, 12-point font, with 1.5 line spacing.
• Citations must conform to the Bluebook (21st Edition).
• Submissions must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration by any other journal.
• A covering letter must accompany the submission.
• A plagiarism report must also accompany the submission, with a maximum of 10% similarity.

Manuscripts, along with the covering letter and the plagiarism report, are to be e-mailed to jiltsilt.mgu@gmail.com on or before 30 September 2026.

All manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer-review process. Acceptance is subject to the report of the peer reviewers, so submission does not guarantee publication.

The official call prescribes no submission fee, processing charge or publication fee. If any payment is ever requested, verify it directly with the School before paying.
