Judicial Internship at the Office of Hon'ble Mr. Justice R. Mahadevan, Supreme Court of India, New Delhi (Rolling to October 2026)

The Office of Hon'ble Mr. Justice R. Mahadevan, Judge, Supreme Court of India, is inviting applications for a full-time physical internship in his chamber. The office is taking applications on a rolling basis up to October 2026, with a fresh intake each month rather than a single fixed batch.

Per his official Supreme Court profile, Justice Mahadevan was appointed a Judge of the Supreme Court of India on 18 July 2024. He was elevated to the Madras High Court in 2013 and took charge as its acting Chief Justice on 24 May 2024. At the Bar he practised on the civil, criminal and writ sides for 25 years, specialising in indirect taxes, customs and Central Excise, and served as Additional Government Pleader (Taxes) for Tamil Nadu and as Additional Central Government Standing Counsel at the Madras High Court.

The office has set out the following responsibilities for interns:

• Preparing case notes
• Conducting legal research
• Observing court proceedings

This is a full-time, in-person engagement in the judge's chamber at the Supreme Court, not a remote or part-time role.

The office has stated that only the following students are encouraged to apply:

• Law students in the 3rd year or above of a 5-year integrated law programme
• Law students in the 2nd year or above of a 3-year LLB programme

No other eligibility restriction has been announced.

The body of the email must state:

• Full name
• Year and programme
• Name of university or college
• Preferred dates for the internship
• Contact details (phone number and email ID)

The office applies a rolling monthly cut-off: the last date to apply is the 15th of the month preceding your preferred month of internship. Applying for a September 2026 internship therefore means writing in by 15 August 2026; applying for October 2026 means writing in by 15 September 2026.

Because the announced window runs up to October 2026, 15 September 2026 is the final cut-off under this call. If you want an earlier month, apply well before its own cut-off.

Shortlisted candidates are informed by email by the 22nd of the preceding month. Shortlisted applicants are then interviewed virtually before the internship is confirmed.

The internship is physical and based in Delhi, at the Supreme Court of India. The announcement does not mention any stipend or remuneration, and it does not state that the internship is unpaid either, so applicants should treat pay as unconfirmed and clarify it at the interview stage.

There is no application fee.
