Law Officer at Bank of India (10 Posts, MMGS-II, Specialist Officer Recruitment Project 2026-27/02)

Bank of India, a public sector bank headquartered in Mumbai, has invited online applications for recruitment of officers in various streams up to Scale IV under Project No. 2026-27/02 (notice dated 01.08.2026). The notice includes 10 posts of Law Officer in Middle Management Grade Scale II (MMGS-II), in the Specialist Officer stream.

The bank has extended the application window: its official application portal now shows registration, editing and online fee payment open until 5 October 2026.

• Post: Law Officer, MMGS-II (Specialist Officer)
• Vacancies: 10 (SC 2, ST 1, OBC 3, EWS 1, General 3), including 1 vacancy for persons with benchmark disabilities. The bank states that vacancy numbers are provisional and may vary.
• Pay: basic pay scale Rs 64,820 - 2,340 (1) - 67,160 - 2,680 (10) - 93,960, with other allowances and perquisites as applicable
• Posting: the bank may post or transfer officers anywhere in India

• Qualification: Graduate in law from a recognised university (no mandatory certification)
• Experience: minimum 3 years of post-qualification experience from the date of registration with the Bar Council, in total, as a practising Advocate and/or as a Law Officer in any Scheduled Commercial Bank, PSU or State/Central Government department or entity. Practice and service periods are added together.
• Preferred: knowledge of recovery and active involvement in recovery proceedings
• Age: 25 to 30 years as on 01.08.2026. Upper age relaxation: SC/ST 5 years, OBC (non-creamy layer) 3 years, PwBD 10 years, eligible ex-servicemen 5 years, persons affected by the 1984 riots 5 years.
• Nationality: citizen of India, or a subject of Nepal or Bhutan, or another category listed in the notice
• All criteria are reckoned as on 01.08.2026. Candidates who earlier held a similar post in Bank of India are not eligible, and a candidate may apply for only one post under this notice.

Selection is by online examination and/or personal interview, depending on the number of applicants. Applications are first shortlisted on the documents uploaded at registration (experience, qualifications and other proof), so upload complete evidence of your Bar Council enrolment and experience.

• Online test: English Language (25 marks, qualifying only) and Professional Knowledge relevant to the post (100 marks), composite time of 100 minutes. One quarter of the marks for a question is deducted for each wrong answer. Minimum qualifying marks are 35% for General/EWS, with 5% relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD in reserved vacancies.
• Interview: 100 marks; minimum 50% for General/EWS and 45% for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD. Candidates are called in the ratio of about 1:3 to vacancies.
• Final merit: online examination and interview weighted 60:40. The bank may also select through interview alone, without an online test.

The date of the online examination will be advised separately on the bank's website.

• General / EWS / OBC: Rs 1,180 (application fee plus intimation charges, inclusive of GST)
• SC / ST / PwBD: Rs 175 (intimation charges only)

The fee is non-refundable and payable online only; bank transaction charges are borne by the candidate.

Selected candidates in MMGS-II, which includes Law Officers, must deposit Rs 2,00,000 as a security deposit. It is refunded after 3 years of satisfactory service and is forfeited if the officer leaves the bank before completing 3 years of service.

Choose Click here for New Registration, note the provisional registration number and password, upload your photograph, signature, left thumb impression and handwritten declaration to the stated specifications, upload your eligibility documents, complete registration and pay the fee. No other mode of application is accepted.

Keep a valid personal email ID and mobile number active until the process ends, since call letters are sent to them. Print the application form and e-receipt by 20 October 2026.
