Law Officer (Scale I) at IBPS, All India (105 Vacancies, CRP SPL-XVI)

The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) has invited online applications for Common Recruitment Process for Specialist Officers (CRP SPL-XVI), covering the post of Law Officer (Scale I) among six specialist cadres. There are 105 vacancies for Law Officer across 11 participating public sector banks. Online registration is open from 1 July 2026 to 21 July 2026.

IBPS is an autonomous body that has received a mandate from Bank of Baroda, Bank of India, Bank of Maharashtra, Canara Bank, Central Bank of India, Indian Bank, Indian Overseas Bank, Punjab National Bank, Punjab & Sind Bank, UCO Bank and Union Bank of India to conduct this common recruitment process once a year. IBPS conducts the online Preliminary and Main examinations and declares results; interviews are conducted by the participating banks and coordinated by the Nodal Bank in each state/UT/region. Provisional allotment to a specific bank follows the interview stage.

• Educational qualification: Bachelor's Degree in Law (LL.B) from a university/institution recognised by the Govt. of India, with the final result declared on or before 21.07.2026.
• Bar enrollment: Must be enrolled as an advocate with a State Bar Council.
• Age: Minimum 20 years, maximum 30 years (as on 01.07.2026), with standard age relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD/Ex-servicemen as per Government of India norms.
• Nationality: Citizen of India (or a subject of Nepal/Bhutan, or specified categories of persons of Indian origin, as detailed in the official notification).
• Candidates may apply for only one post; multiple applications will be summarily rejected.

Selection is a three-stage process:

• Online Preliminary Examination (August 2026): English Language, Reasoning, General Awareness (with special reference to Banking Industry) and Professional Knowledge — 100 questions, 125 marks, 80 minutes, with sectional cut-offs.
• Online Main Examination (November 2026): English Language, Reasoning, General Awareness (Banking), Professional Knowledge (Objective) and a Descriptive Paper in English — 225 marks total. Merit is based on the Professional Knowledge score; other sections are qualifying.
• Common Interview (November/December 2026), conducted by the participating banks and coordinated by the Nodal Bank, followed by provisional allotment (tentatively January 2027).

Rs. 175/- (inclusive of GST) for SC/ST/PwBD candidates; Rs. 850/- (inclusive of GST) for all other candidates. Payable online only, between 1 July 2026 and 21 July 2026. Bank transaction charges for online payment are to be borne by the candidate.

Specialist Officers, Scale I: Basic pay 48480-2000/7-62480-2340/2-67160-2680/7-85920, plus allowances and perquisites as per the rules of the participating bank in force from time to time.

New candidates must register to receive a provisional registration number and password (also sent by email/SMS), then upload photograph, signature, left thumb impression and a handwritten declaration, and pay the application fee online before the window closes on 21 July 2026.
