Legal Assistant at High Court of Gujarat, Ahmedabad (65 Vacancies)

The High Court of Gujarat, Sola, Ahmedabad has invited online applications for recruitment to the post of Legal Assistant on its establishment, purely on a contractual basis, under Advertisement No. RC/B/1320/2026 (LA) dated 29 June 2026. A total of 65 vacancies are to be filled. Selected candidates will assist the Hon'ble Judge in judicial and administrative work, including attending court, research, and drafting of memoranda, opinions, and comments on legal matters.

• Fresh graduate in law with a minimum of 55% marks (or equivalent CGPA) from any University in India or institution recognised by the UGC.
• Candidates in the final year of a 3-year or 5-year integrated LLB course may also apply, subject to passing the final year with the requisite marks before appointment.
• Age not more than 26 years as on the last date of application, i.e. 20/07/2026 (candidates born after 20/07/2008 are not eligible).
• Basic knowledge of computer application/operation.
• Acquaintance with the Gujarati language.
• Existing Legal Assistants who have held appointment for 11 months or more under earlier recruitment processes are not eligible to reapply.

Selected candidates will draw a fixed remuneration of Rs. 60,000 per month. Appointment is purely contractual, initially for 11 months, extendable up to a further maximum of 11 months, subject to the recommendation of the concerned Hon'ble Judge and approval of the Chief Justice. The role is full-time; Legal Assistants may not practise as a lawyer or take up any other employment during the tenure.

• Written Test (Objective Type - MCQs): 100 marks, 2-hour duration, 100 questions, with negative marking of 0.25 mark per wrong/multiple answer. Syllabus covers the Constitution of India, CPC, IPC/BNS, CrPC/BNSS, Evidence Act/BSA, Contract Act, Specific Relief Act, Transfer of Property Act, Limitation Act, General Knowledge, English Language, Computer Skills, and General IQ. Minimum 50% marks required to qualify.
• Viva-voce (Oral Interview): 50 marks; minimum 50% required to be included in the Select List.
• Final Select List is prepared on aggregate marks from both stages, according to merit.

Eligible candidates must apply online through the HC-OJAS Portal (hc-ojas.gujarat.gov.in) or the High Court of Gujarat's official website (gujarathighcourt.nic.in). An application fee of Rs. 500 plus usual bank charges is payable via SBI e-Pay on the portal. Only candidates who submit a confirmed online application and pay the requisite fee are eligible to appear in the Written Test.
