Legal Consultant at Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), New Delhi [4 Posts, Rs 75,000/Month]

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), a Government of India Enterprise headquartered at Janpath, New Delhi, has issued Advertisement No. BSNLCO-11/12(11)/2/2026-RECTT-CO dated 07.07.2026 inviting online applications for engagement on a fixed short term contract basis.

The notification covers four categories of Consultants, of which Legal Consultant (04 posts) is the largest. All selected Consultants will be posted at the BSNL Corporate Office, New Delhi. The engagement is purely contractual and does not confer any right to regular appointment or absorption in BSNL.

• Nature of engagement: Full-time, fixed short term contract basis
• Working hours: 09:30 AM to 06:00 PM, with attendance recorded through a Biometric / Computerised Attendance System. The Consultant may be required to work beyond normal hours and on weekends or holidays as per exigency, without any additional remuneration.

Mandatory criteria:

• The candidate should have graduated with LLB (either the 3-year or the 5-year integrated course).
• The institute should be approved by the Bar Council of India (BCI).
• The candidate must have scored at least 60 per cent marks in aggregate in LLB.
• The candidate should have post-qualification experience of three years.
• Age not more than 32 years as on the last date of receipt of applications / registration.
• Only Indian nationals are eligible to apply.

Desirable criteria:

• Advantage to candidates completing their five-year integrated LLB course from any of the National Law Universities in India.
• Advantage to candidates with a good PG CLAT score of 2023, 2024 or 2025.
• Post-qualification executive experience of three years, preferably in the Legal Division of a Central Government / PSU, State Government / PSU, or a registered company or law firm engaged in the business of Advocates and Solicitors for more than 20 years.
• Hands-on experience in drafting, vetting and execution of legal documents, agreements, contracts and MOUs with legal due diligence.
• In-depth knowledge of corporate and commercial legislation, Company Law, the Consumer Protection Act, securities laws including merger, acquisition and take-over laws, cyber laws, IPR legislation, telecom regulatory and licensing laws including the Indian Telegraph Act, conveyancing, civil and criminal matters, administrative and service matters, labour issues, taxation, domestic and international arbitration, international law and the RTI Act.

• Handling issues pertaining to BSNL such as arbitration, commercial matters, contracts, tenders, taxation, company law, NCLT, civil law, rent disputes, labour laws, land matters and service matters.
• Handling day-to-day legal matters arising in connection with the business of BSNL, rendering legal advice, and drafting and vetting legal deeds, documents, tenders, EOIs, and negotiating and finalising agreements, contracts and MOUs.
• Preparing writ petitions, review petitions, SLPs, counter affidavits, rejoinders, Statements of Defence and Statements of Claim for various courts, tribunals and arbitrators.
• Examining judgments and arbitral awards pronounced by various courts and arbitrators and suggesting the further course of action.
• Briefing Senior Law Officers, Central Government Standing Counsels and Senior / Panel Advocates of BSNL.
• Regular monitoring and follow-up of specific legal issues entrusted to the Consultant, attending court hearings and arbitration proceedings, liaising with lawyers and preparing legal briefs.

• Remuneration: A monthly consolidated remuneration of Rs. 75,000/-. No Dearness Allowance or any other allowance is admissible.
• Increment: If the tenure is extended after the first year, the consolidated remuneration is increased by 5% of the initial remuneration; a further 5% of the second-year remuneration applies on extension after the second year.
• Tenure: Total three years from the date of joining on a 1+1+1 year basis. Performance is reviewed at the end of the first and second year, and each extension requires the approval of Director (HR), BSNL.
• Lock-in: A minimum lock-in period of one year from the date of joining. Discontinuing during the lock-in attracts an amount equivalent to three months' consolidated remuneration in addition to notice period or payment in lieu.
• Leave: Casual Leave of 12 days on a pro rata basis. Additional leave without pay may be permitted with the Reporting Officer's approval.
• Tours: TA/DA and hotel accommodation or BSNL IQ for domestic tours, as admissible to BSNL officers of SDE equivalent status and rank.
• Exclusivity: The Consultant may not take up any other assignment during the engagement, and all pleadings, opinions, drafts and reports produced during the engagement are the exclusive property of BSNL.
• Either side may terminate on one month's notice; BSNL may also end the engagement immediately on payment of 30 days' remuneration.

• Applications are evaluated on the information and documents provided during online registration.
• Complete applications from eligible candidates are placed before a Screening Committee, which shortlists on the criteria in the advertisement.
• Shortlisted candidates are called for an interview or interaction before an Evaluation Committee constituted by BSNL.
• A score card is prepared from the Screening Committee and Evaluation Committee scores, and the top candidates are called for document verification and pre-engagement formalities.
• A waiting list is prepared to fill any unfilled posts. Appearance in the final merit list does not by itself confer any right to engagement.

Applications are accepted online only through the BSNL recruitment portal. Registration for the Legal Consultant post opened at 11:00 hrs on 09.07.2026 and closes at 11:00 hrs on 08.08.2026. An application editing window is available from 11:00 hrs on 09.08.2026 to 11:00 hrs on 16.08.2026.

A registration fee of Rs. 500/- must be paid online; the fee is not accepted in any other form and is not refundable. Candidates are advised to complete registration well before the closing time, as BSNL accepts no responsibility for applications not submitted in time. Age and qualification certificates are to be submitted only at the time of document verification.
