The International Criminal Court (ICC) is the permanent international court in The Hague, established by the Rome Statute, which investigates and, where warranted, tries individuals charged with genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity and the crime of aggression. Under requisition 24272, the ICC is inviting applications for a Legal internship with the Trust Fund for Victims (TFV) at its duty station in The Hague, Netherlands.
The TFV is provided for by the Rome Statute. Its mandate is to mobilise resources and implement Court-ordered reparations and other programmes for the benefit of victims of crimes under the Court's jurisdiction. It is governed by a Board of Directors appointed by the Assembly of States Parties and supported by a Secretariat administratively attached to the ICC Registry.
The vacancy announcement gives hiring managers a list of suitable candidates from which they may make a selection throughout the year, so applicants must state their availability when applying.
Under the supervision and overall coordination of the Legal Adviser, the intern will assist the Trust Fund for Victims with:
Interns work full time for six months, agreed before commencement. Placements are not extended beyond six months. The starting date may vary, upon agreement.
The ICC states that internship and visiting professional placements are unfunded. The Court cannot provide any remuneration, nor reimburse expenses incurred before, during or after the placement. Applicants must be able to support themselves for the entire duration of the internship.
The ICC only accepts applications submitted through its career portal and does not accept email applications. Register with ICC eRecruitment, complete your candidate profile, open requisition 24272 and click 'Apply', then submit the application following the system prompts.
The deadline for applications is 31 December 2026 (midnight The Hague time). The Trust Fund for Victims reviews applications on an on-going basis, not only after the deadline, so applying early is advisable. Due to the volume of applications received, only successful applicants will be contacted by the Court.
