Legal Internship at The Law Office of Ashwin Kumar, Chennai (Environmental Law)

The Law Office of Ashwin Kumar is inviting applications for a two-month legal internship based in Chennai. If you are drawn to environmental law and want hands-on courtroom exposure, this is a chance to work closely on live matters in Environmental Advisory and Litigation, including matters before the High Court and the National Green Tribunal (NGT).

This is an in-office, litigation-focused role, so expect to spend time on real case files, drafting, and court visits rather than purely desk-based research.

The Law Office of Ashwin Kumar is a Chennai-based legal practice with a focus on environmental advisory and litigation work. The internship is offered directly by the chambers, giving you the chance to learn alongside a practising advocate and observe how environmental and green-tribunal matters move from filing to hearing.

As an intern, you will be involved in the day-to-day running of live matters. Your responsibilities will include:

• Assisting with legal research, drafting, and case preparation
• Supporting case filings, documentation, and compliance work
• Note-taking during meetings and hearings
• Attending court hearings and client meetings
• Accompanying the team to court for matters before the High Court and the NGT

This internship is best suited to candidates who want practical experience in environmental advisory and litigation. You should be:

• A law graduate (LLB) or a final-year law student
• Interested in environmental law
• Equipped with strong research, drafting, and communication skills

A keen interest in litigation and environmental law is preferred.

There is no fee to apply or intern. This internship is unpaid. What it offers instead is direct, practical exposure to environmental litigation and advisory practice, including court visits and involvement in live filings and drafting.

The internship runs for two months and is based in office in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Because the role involves court visits and client meetings, it is an on-site position.
