Overview

Vintage Legal is running a one month Virtual Training-cum-Internship Programme through July 2026, designed as a purely learning based engagement for law students who want structured practice in legal research and writing. This is an academic internship rather than a job, so there is no stipend, but it is fully online, carries no application or participation fee, and is built around real mentorship, weekly deadlines, and the chance to be published. If you are looking to sharpen your research skills under guidance instead of working in isolation, this programme is worth your attention.

About Vintage Legal

Vintage Legal describes itself as a global platform for academic scholarship and research that works to bridge the gap between legal academia and the wider public. It runs an open access publishing ecosystem with 400 plus articles, case analyses and law blogs, 10 plus open access books, and a peer reviewed open access journal, The Journal of Cyber Governance and Intellectual Property. Its work spans intellectual property, constitutional law, cybercrime, artificial intelligence, data protection and human rights. The organisation states that it is registered under India's Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) and is ISO 9001:2005 certified, and it reports having nurtured 500 plus interns and hosted 10 plus skill development workshops. Editorial work and coordination are handled by a student and academic team drawn from institutions including Sikkim Government Law College, IIM Rohtak, Amity University Patna, XIM University Bhubaneswar and ICFAI University Dehradun.

The role: what you will do

This is a training first internship, so your month is structured around guided legal research and writing rather than administrative tasks. Across the programme you can expect to:

  • Work to weekly deadlines on assigned research and writing tasks
  • Attend regular virtual review meetings where your work is discussed and improved
  • Take part in a free workshop on research and writing skills
  • Develop practical understanding of legal research, writing, editorial processes and public legal communication
  • Have your stronger work considered for publication on the Vintage Legal platform

Vintage Legal also runs three ongoing internship tracks alongside this programme: a General Research-Based Internship, a Legal Journalism Internship, and an Editorial Internship.

Who can apply

The programme is open to students pursuing the five year integrated LL.B., the three year LL.B., or an LL.M., across all years of study. Vintage Legal also states more broadly that its internships welcome students of law and allied or multidisciplinary fields such as social sciences, humanities, public policy and technology-law interfaces. If you are a current law student at any stage, you are eligible to apply.

Requirements and conduct

All work you submit must be your own. Vintage Legal does not tolerate plagiarism, improper paraphrasing or misrepresentation of authorship. On artificial intelligence, the policy is clear: AI may be used only in a limited and auxiliary way (for example idea generation, language and grammar refinement, organising literature, or preliminary research using publicly available sources), and it must never replace your own legal research, interpretation, analysis or writing. Generating complete articles or analyses without substantial human authorship, using AI to form legal conclusions without independent reasoning, and fabricating or auto generating citations, case laws, statutes or data are all strictly prohibited. Where AI use goes beyond basic language help, you must disclose the tool, its version, its purpose and the extent of reliance. You remain fully responsible for the originality, accuracy and integrity of everything you submit.

Certificates, recommendations and intellectual property

Certificates are not automatic. A performance based internship certificate is issued only where you meet the prescribed performance standards throughout the internship. Letters of recommendation are provided only in exceptional cases and on specific consideration. Note also that work produced during the internship may be used by Vintage Legal for internal research, academic development and publication purposes.

How to apply

Apply through the official internship application form on the Vintage Legal website before the deadline of 30 June 2026. The form asks for your full name, email, university, course and contact number, and lets you upload your resume or academic details. Keep your details accurate and your resume current, since shortlisting and certificate eligibility both depend on your engagement and performance through the programme.

Application checklist

  • Confirm you are a current LL.B. (3 year or 5 year integrated) or LL.M. student
  • Prepare an updated resume or academic details document to upload
  • Have your full name, email, university, course and contact number ready
  • Read the internship policies and AI use policy before you start work
  • Submit the official internship application form before 30 June 2026
  • Be ready to commit to weekly deadlines and virtual review meetings through July 2026
