Vitasta School of Law invites you to LEX NOVA 2026, a National Conference on Contemporary Challenges and Emerging Trends in Law, to be held on 5 September 2026 in Hybrid mode. The conference offers a distinguished platform for academicians, researchers, legal professionals, policymakers, and students to engage in meaningful discourse on contemporary legal challenges and emerging trends. It is dedicated to fostering scholarly excellence, encouraging interdisciplinary research, and facilitating the exchange of innovative ideas that shape the future of law, justice, and public policy.

About the organiser

Vitasta School of Law has been affiliated with the University of Kashmir and recognised by the Bar Council of India since its establishment in 2011. It offers the five-year integrated B.A. LL.B. programme at the undergraduate level, with an annual intake of 120 students admitted through an entrance examination conducted by the University of Kashmir. Located in the Kashmir Valley near Nowgam bypass, Srinagar, it is one of the most prestigious law colleges in the region and continues to produce competent advocates, administrators, and techno-legal professionals.

Theme and sub-themes

The main theme is Contemporary Challenges and Emerging Trends in Law. The conference welcomes papers on contemporary legal issues, including but not limited to:

  • Artificial Intelligence governance, liability, and ethical frameworks
  • Algorithmic accountability, bias auditing, and automated decision-making
  • Data privacy, data sovereignty, and cross-border data flows (DPDP Act and global adequacy)
  • Cybersecurity, critical infrastructure protection, and cyber warfare
  • Quantum computing, emerging technologies, and national security law
  • Generative AI, deepfakes, and intellectual property challenges
  • Blockchain, Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs), and digital asset regulation
  • Environmental law, climate litigation, and net-zero corporate obligations
  • ESG 2.0, sustainable finance, and corporate due diligence (BRSR, CSRD)
  • Space law, commercial space activities, and resource utilisation
  • The future of work: AI, automation, the gig economy, and labour rights
  • Platform regulation, online safety, content moderation, and misinformation
  • Antitrust and competition law in digital markets and Big Tech
  • Bioethics, gene editing, biotechnology, and health data privacy
  • Access to justice, legal technology, and Online Dispute Resolution (ODR)

These sub-themes are illustrative rather than exhaustive. You are welcome to submit on any contemporary legal issue that falls within the broader conference theme.

Who can submit / eligibility

The conference is open to students, educators, researchers, academicians, practitioners, policy-makers, and other legal stakeholders.

Submission guidelines

You may submit under one of three categories:

  • Research Papers: 3,000–5,000 words
  • Case Studies / Articles: 2,000–3,000 words
  • Policy Briefs: 1,500–2,500 words

Formatting: Times New Roman, 12-point, line spacing 1.5; margins 1 inch (2.54 cm) on all sides; citation style Bluebook (20th Edition), with all sources cited appropriately.

Your submission must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere. It must be free from plagiarism, grammatical and spelling errors, and any defamatory or offensive content. All manuscripts must be submitted in .docx format — PDF submissions will not be accepted. The manuscript must not contain author name(s) or identifying information, to ensure a blind peer-review process.

Publication / what you get

You gain a national platform to present your research and engage with academicians, researchers, legal professionals, and policymakers from across India in Hybrid mode. The brochure does not specify a post-conference journal or edited-volume publication; please confirm any publication opportunity directly with the organisers before submitting.

Fee

Registration fee for paper presenters:

  • Students — Early Bird ₹300 / Regular ₹500
  • Research Scholars — Early Bird ₹600 / Regular ₹750
  • Faculty & Others — Early Bird ₹1,000 / Regular ₹1,200

Participants (non-presenters): ₹250.
