LEX PAX Mediation Competition 2.0 by School of Law, Woxsen University (Virtual, Oct 9-10; Prizes Worth Rs 55,000; Register by Oct 1)

The School of Law, Woxsen University, Hyderabad presents the second edition of the LEX PAX Mediation Competition. The competition is meant to sharpen negotiation and communication skills and to promote mediation as a practical way of resolving family, corporate and commercial disputes.

It is organised in collaboration with IAMC Hyderabad and IIDRC (Institutional & Industrial Dispute Resolution Centre), with the Kovise Foundation Conflict Resolution International (KFCRI) as Knowledge Partner. All rounds are held in virtual mode.

Woxsen University was founded in 2014 in Telangana. Its School of Law is approved by the Bar Council of India and runs a moot court, legal aid clinics, client counselling and internship programmes as part of its curriculum.

• Open to bona fide students of three-year or five-year law degree programmes at colleges and universities recognised by the Bar Council of India.
• Each team has three members: a Mediator and a Client-Counsel pair (the Negotiating Pair).
• Roles must be declared at registration and cannot be swapped during any round; doing so leads to disqualification.
• A maximum of 2 teams per institution. Participation is capped at 30 teams, though the Organising Committee may raise or lower that number.

• Each Mediation Session has two Negotiating Pairs representing opposing parties and two Mediators. Sides are assigned by draw of lots on the day of the competition.
• One Preliminary Round (30 minutes, excluding caucus). The top 8 Negotiating Pairs and top 8 Mediators qualify independently for the Quarter-Finals (30 minutes).
• The top 4 Negotiating Pairs and top 4 Mediators move to the Semi-Finals, and the top 2 of each to the Final (45 minutes each).
• Only one caucus is allowed per session: up to 6 minutes in the Preliminary Round, 8 minutes in the Quarter-Finals and 15 minutes in the Semi-Finals and Final.
• The Preliminary and Quarter-Final Rounds use the same problem with different confidential information. The preliminary problem is released three days before the competition; the Semi-Final and Final problems go to advancing teams one day before those rounds.
• Negotiating Pairs and Mediators are each marked out of 100.

• Teams communicate only through their Team Codes. Revealing the identity of a participant or institution, including through virtual backgrounds, file names or ID cards, leads to disqualification.
• Disclosing confidential information to any other participant is grounds for immediate disqualification.
• Participants are responsible for their own internet connection and devices; the Organising Committee is not liable for technical issues.

• Registration fee: Rs 3,000 per team.
• Fill in the official registration form and pay the fee through Woxsen University's payment portal (lexpax.woxsen.edu.in) to confirm participation.
• Registration closes on 1 October 2026.
