The Labour Law Research Network (LLRN) was established in 2011 by 30 research centres and now has a membership of 86 centres from across the globe. It holds biennial international conferences: Barcelona 2013, Amsterdam 2015, Toronto 2017, Valparaiso 2019, Warsaw 2021 and 2023, and Bangkok 2025.
The eighth conference, LLRN8, will be held in Cagliari, Italy, from 28 to 30 June 2027. It is hosted by the Law Department of the University of Cagliari and organised together with SERI - Fondazione Giacomo Brodolini (FGB), one of the research centres associated with LLRN. The opening ceremony and the conference take place at the Teatro Massimo, and the panel sessions at the Law Department of the University of Cagliari.
LLRN8 is open to any contribution to labour law, broadly conceived, with a strong focus on interdisciplinarity. Submissions focusing on one legal system should be framed to highlight their significance to scholars from other jurisdictions. The organisers particularly encourage papers on countries and regions that have historically received less attention in labour law scholarship, including Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, the Pacific, the Middle East and Latin America, and papers on the decolonisation of labour law.
The call names themes such as Solidarity and Equality among its suggested tracks, but there is no strict category of tracks: proposals in all areas of labour law and from all parts of the world are considered on merit. The full list of themes is in the official call for papers.
Accepted participants pay a registration fee, as published on the conference website:
The Local Organizing Committee offers a discount for Ph.D. students (EUR 80 on the early bird fee, EUR 120 on the regular and late fees); the rules for this discount are to be published. Participants pay for their own travel and accommodation.
The Steering Committee supports participation by Global South scholars in need of financial support: applications for financial support may be submitted after acceptance of the proposal and by the end of February 2027. Funding is not guaranteed.
Submit your abstract, panel, book presentation or poster proposal through the application form on the conference website (Submit Proposal page). The extended, final deadline for all abstracts and panel proposals is 31 October 2026.
Note: the call for papers PDF still shows the original deadline of 16 October 2026. The LLRN Steering Committee extended it to 31 October 2026 in its notice of 5 October 2026, and the conference website's key dates now show 31 October 2026.
