About Maldives ADR Week 2026

Maldives ADR Week is an international alternative dispute resolution programme organised by the Maldives Moot Court Society (MMCS). Held over 3, 4 and 5 September 2026, it brings together practitioners, academics, arbitrators and students for a week of dialogue, panel discussions and advocacy in arbitration, mediation and negotiation.

The programme is set across the Maldives, with international participants arriving at Velana International Airport, staying in Hulhumalé, and travelling by speedboat to Maafushi Island, the main venue for the event.

Programme Highlights

The week combines substantive ADR sessions with a curated Maldivian experience.

  • Welcome Reception marking the start of discussions and engagement.
  • Panels and discussions bringing together leading ADR practitioners.
  • The final round of the MMCS International Maritime Arbitration Competition (MIMAC).
  • Closing Ceremony celebrating participants' contributions.
  • Optional island and leisure activities through local providers (snorkelling, diving, dolphin watching and more), and an optional sandbank BBQ evening.

Who Can Attend

The programme is open to both international and Maldivian participants with an interest in alternative dispute resolution.

  • Law students and academics.
  • Practitioners and speakers in arbitration, mediation and negotiation.
  • MIMAC arbitrators.

Advance registration is required as tickets are limited. All participants receive certificates.

Fee and Registration

Registration is package-based and payable exclusively by bank transfer. International participants are priced in USD and Maldivian participants in MVR, across Standard, Student, Speaker and MIMAC Arbitrator categories. Packages include accommodation (four nights for international participants: one night in Hulhumalé and three in Maafushi) and all coordinated airport and inter-island transfers.

Early-bird pricing applied until 10 June 2026; standard pricing applies thereafter. A "without accommodation" option is not available for international participants given the multi-island nature of the event. To register, complete the official registration form and select the appropriate participant category.

Travel and Entry Requirements

Basic entry requirements for the Maldives include:

  • A passport or travel document with a Machine Readable Zone (MRZ) valid for at least one month.
  • A complete travel itinerary with confirmed return tickets and a prepaid confirmed booking at a registered hotel, or proof of sufficient funds for the stay.

International participants must arrive on 2 September 2026, as the transfer to Maafushi is a single scheduled speedboat departure on 3 September.
