Member at Competition Commission of India, New Delhi (02 Posts; Salary Rs 5,00,000 per Month)

The Competition Commission of India (CCI) is the statutory authority established under the Competition Act, 2002 to eliminate practices having an appreciable adverse effect on competition, to promote and sustain competition in markets, to protect the interests of consumers and to ensure freedom of trade. It enforces the provisions on anti‑competitive agreements and abuse of dominant position, and it regulates combinations.

The Commission works from its head office at the 9th Floor, Office Block‑1, Kidwai Nagar (East), New Delhi, with regional offices at Kolkata, Navi Mumbai and Chennai. Members of the Commission discharge quasi‑judicial functions, and appointments to these posts are made by the Central Government through the Ministry of Corporate Affairs.

A vacancy circular issued on 14 August 2026 invites applications from Indian nationals, in the format prescribed at Annexure‑I of the circular, for 02 posts of Member in the Competition Commission of India.

The selected candidate will be required to serve at the headquarter of the Competition Commission of India, which is currently located in Delhi.

Eligibility is governed by Section 8(2) of the Competition Act, 2002. A person is eligible for appointment as Member if that person is of ability, integrity and standing, and has special knowledge of, and such professional experience of not less than fifteen years in, any of the following fields, which in the opinion of the Central Government may be useful to the Commission:

• International trade
• Economics
• Business, commerce or industry
• Law
• Finance or accountancy
• Management
• Technology
• Public affairs
• Competition matters, including competition law and policy

Only Indian nationals may apply.

• Salary: A Member is paid a consolidated monthly salary of Rupees five lakhs only. A Member is not entitled to house and car.
• Tenure: A Member holds office for a term of five years from the date of joining the post, or until attaining the age of 65 years, whichever is earlier.
• Joining: The selected applicant is expected to join the post within one month of the issue of the offer of appointment.
• Medical examination: The selected applicant may have to appear for a medical examination, if the Central Government so requires.

Applications must be submitted in the format given at Annexure‑I of the vacancy circular. The form may be downloaded from the website of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, the Competition Commission of India or the Department of Personnel and Training. The form calls for the following:

• Name, parentage, date of birth with proof, postal address, phone number and email ID, and nationality
• Educational qualifications, with self‑attested copies attached
• Service, cadre and batch, in the case of a government employee
• Present posting, occupation or profession, with pay scale and basic pay
• Details of previous postings or employment, including the period and the nature of activities performed
• Field of expertise against the prescribed eligibility criteria, and the number of years of experience in it
• Any other special qualification, special achievement, participation in important committees or working groups, foreign assignment or training, publication to the applicant’s credit, or national or international recognition
• For applicants other than serving government servants, testimonials from two referees in responsible positions who are not relatives, with their address, contact numbers and email ID

The form carries an undertaking that, in the event of selection, the applicant will resign or seek retirement from any existing employment, including government service, before appointment as Member. Applicants may attach additional sheets where a column does not allow the full information to be given.

Applications of serving government servants, including those in public sector undertakings and autonomous organisations, must be sent through proper channel. Certificates in the form at Appendix “A” of the circular, issued by the cadre controlling or competent authority, must accompany the application form and must cover the following:

• That no vigilance, disciplinary or criminal proceedings are pending or contemplated against the applicant
• That the applicant’s integrity is certified
• Duly authenticated copies of the ACR or APAR dossier of the applicant for the last five years
• A list of major or minor penalties imposed on the applicant during the last ten years, or a no‑penalty certificate

Completed applications in the Annexure‑I format should reach Kunwar Balwant Rao, Under Secretary, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Room No. 13049, ‘A’ Wing, 3rd Floor, Kartavya Bhawan‑01, Dr. Rajendra Prasad Road, New Delhi 110001, within 45 days from the date of issue of the circular, that is by 28 September 2026 (5:30 PM).

A copy of the application may be sent in advance, before the due date.

• Incomplete applications, and applications received after the due date, shall not be accepted and are liable to be rejected.
• The circular prescribes no application fee.
• The vacancy circular is published in English and Hindi in a single PDF, with the Hindi version of the application form following the English one.
