Saveetha School of Law, SIMATS, is organising CIPR 2026 - the National Conference on Legal Challenges in IPR: Innovation, Public Health and Sustainable Development (Future Perspectives) on 22 August 2026 in hybrid mode (offline at the campus and online), from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
Intellectual Property Rights sit at the centre of innovation-driven economies. Rapid advances in technology, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals and sustainable innovation continually create new legal challenges that demand a balanced response between private rights and the wider public interest. This conference brings together academicians, researchers, practitioners and students to examine these tensions and chart future perspectives.
Conference Theme and Focus
The conference explores the interface between intellectual property protection and three pressing public concerns:
- Innovation - incentivising creativity and technological progress while keeping IP frameworks fit for emerging technologies.
- Public Health - the balance between pharmaceutical patents and access to medicines, and IP responses to health emergencies.
- Sustainable Development - the role of green innovation, traditional knowledge and climate-friendly technology in a sustainable IP regime.

Submission Guidelines
- Abstract: not exceeding 200 words, to be submitted first for review.
- Full paper length: 2,000 to 4,000 words, including footnotes.
- Co-authorship: a maximum of 2 authors per paper is permitted.
- Citation style: ILI or OSCOLA (4th edition), applied uniformly.
- Originality: plagiarism/similarity must not exceed 15% and AI-generated content must be less than 10%.
- Submission: abstracts and full papers are to be emailed to cipr2026@gmail.com.

Registration is confirmed only after successful verification of the fee. Only participants whose abstracts are accepted should complete the registration form, on or before 12 August 2026.

Publication, Awards and Certificates
- Selected papers, after peer review, will be considered for publication in an edited book with ISBN / conference proceedings or a reputed journal.
- The top presenters/papers will receive a Certificate of Merit; a Best Paper Award and a Best Presenter Award will also be conferred (first preference for these awards is given to offline presenters).
- All presenters and participants receive a Merit Certificate of participation. Those attending in person collect certificates at the venue; online presenters are issued e-certificates.
Mode and Venue
The conference is held in hybrid mode. Participants are encouraged to attend and present in person at Saveetha School of Law, SIMATS, Chennai, though online presentation is also available. First preference for the Best Paper and Best Presenter Awards is given to offline presenters.
