About the Competition

Unitedworld School of Law, Karnavati University is hosting the National Level Mediation Competition 2026 on its Gandhinagar campus from 22 to 24 October 2026. The competition is run by the Centre for Research on Mediation at Unitedworld School of Law, in collaboration with the Gujarat International Maritime Arbitration Centre.

The organisers describe NMC 2026 as a platform for law students to develop and showcase their mediation and negotiation skills through simulated rounds judged by professionals. Institutions from across the country have been invited to send teams.

Organising Institutions

The competition is organised by Unitedworld School of Law, Karnavati University, Gandhinagar, through its Centre for Research on Mediation and the Karnavati University Moot Court Society.

The collaborating institution is the Gujarat International Maritime Arbitration Centre, a specialist arbitration and mediation centre for maritime and shipping disputes established under the Gujarat Maritime University and housed at GIFT City, Gandhinagar.

Team Composition

Each team shall consist of three members:

  • One Mediator
  • One Negotiating Pair, made up of a Client and a Counsel

The registration form asks for the full name, year of study, contact number and email address of each of the three participants, along with the institution name, the affiliating university, a team email address, a WhatsApp-enabled team contact number and the moot court committee email address of the institution.

Registration

Registration is open on a first-come, first-served basis. The organisers have not announced a closing date; teams should register early rather than wait for a cut-off.

The step currently open is the provisional registration form, which is reachable from the QR code on the official poster and from the Register link on the competition page. Teams that submit it affirm that the information provided is true and correct and agree to abide by the rules and decisions of the Organising Committee.

Fee

The organisers have labelled the form now open as a free provisional registration form. No participation or registration fee has been published for the 2026 edition. Teams should confirm the position with the Organising Committee before treating the competition as free to enter.

Dates and Venue

The competition runs from 22 to 24 October 2026 and is held offline at the Karnavati University campus, Adalaj-Uvarsad Road, At. and Po.: Uvarsad, Gandhinagar 382422, Gujarat.

What the organisers have released so far is a pre-invite. The rules, the mediation problem, the round structure, the category-wise prize break-up and any accommodation arrangements have not been published yet.

One caution on the official page: the Download the Brochure link on it still serves the brochure for the 2025 edition of the competition, which was held from 21 to 23 August 2025. Do not read its dates, fees or rules as applying to NMC 2026. Write to the Organising Committee for the 2026 documents.
