The Obligations Conferences are a biennial series of international conferences on the law of obligations (contract, tort, unjust enrichment, equity and remedies), bringing together leading scholars and judges from across common law and civil law jurisdictions. Obligations XII is the twelfth edition of the series and will be convened by James Lee (King's College London) and Andrew Robertson (University of Melbourne).
Obligations XII will take as its theme "Reforming the Law of Obligations". The theme is intended to be interpreted broadly, and may encompass:
Prospective speakers should submit an abstract of no more than 500 words (excluding footnotes, provided the footnotes are not discursive). Submissions should be for new, unpublished papers addressing the conference theme. Co-authored submissions are welcome, particularly where they cross jurisdictions or disciplines.
The conference will be held at King's College London, UK from 13 to 16 July 2027.
Abstracts should be emailed to ObligationsTwelve@gmail.com by the deadline below. Outcome notifications are expected by 1 November 2026, and a reserve list may be established for waitlisted papers. Accepted speakers will need to register and pay a discounted speaker rate; general registration opens in early 2027.
