About the programme

J.N.R. Ladda Law College, Sedam, Karnataka (affiliated to Karnataka State Law University, Hubli) and Vishwaniti Foundation, India are organising a one-week online Faculty Development Programme titled Transformative Teaching in Law: Pedagogies for Effective Higher Legal Education. The brochure describes it as a short-term skill enhancement course for law teachers.

The programme is meant to strengthen the teaching capacity of those engaged in higher legal education. Over six days it moves from the foundations of legal pedagogy to active and experiential learning, technology and artificial intelligence in teaching, innovative assessment, inclusive teaching and the design of a practical pedagogical framework for law courses. Each day has two connected sessions delivered by one resource person. The brochure does not name the resource persons.

Stated objectives:

  • Familiarise law teachers with contemporary approaches to teaching and learning in higher legal education.
  • Strengthen classroom engagement through active, participatory and learner-centred pedagogies.
  • Explore case-based, Socratic, problem-based, clinical and experiential approaches to legal education.
  • Examine the responsible use of digital tools and artificial intelligence in legal teaching and learning.

  • Promote inclusive, reflective and practice-oriented approaches to teaching law.

Who can attend

The brochure addresses the programme to teachers engaged in higher legal education and calls it a short-term skill enhancement course for law teachers. It does not set out any further eligibility conditions and does not state a limit on the number of participants.

Twelve sessions across six days, two sessions each day:

  1. Day 1, Rethink: Foundations of Transformative Legal Pedagogy. Session 1: Understanding Legal Pedagogy: From Traditional Teaching to Transformative Legal Education. Session 2: Teaching for Higher Legal Education: Understanding the Contemporary Law Learner.
  2. Day 2, Re-engage: Active and Participatory Teaching in Law. Session 1: Beyond the Lecture Method: Active and Participatory Learning in Legal Education. Session 2: Case Method, Socratic Method and Problem-Based Learning in Law.
  3. Day 3, Experience: Clinical and Experiential Legal Education. Session 1: Clinical Legal Education: Moot Courts, Legal Aid Clinics and Simulation-Based Learning. Session 2: Experiential Learning in Law: Integrating Classroom Teaching with Real-World Legal Practice.
  4. Day 4, Digitalise: Technology and AI-Enabled Legal Teaching. Session 1: Technology-Enabled Legal Education: Digital Tools for Engaging Law Students. Session 2: AI in Legal Education: Opportunities, Challenges and Responsible Use in Teaching and Learning.
  5. Day 5, Assess: Innovative Assessment and Outcome-Based Learning. Session 1: Innovative Assessment in Legal Education: Moving Beyond Conventional Examinations. Session 2: Outcome-Based Teaching and Learning in Law: Designing Effective Learning Outcomes and Assessments.
  6. Day 6, Transform: Inclusive Teaching and Designing the Future Law Classroom. Session 1: Inclusive and Learner-Centred Legal Education: Teaching Diverse Learners Effectively. Session 2: From Teaching to Transformation: Designing an Effective Pedagogical Framework for Law Courses.

Expected outcomes listed in the brochure include the ability to apply contemporary pedagogical approaches, design more engaging law classes, integrate case studies, problem-based learning, simulations and clinical activities into course delivery, use digital and AI tools responsibly, align learning outcomes with assessment, adopt inclusive approaches and develop an actionable pedagogical framework for one's own courses.

Certificate and assessment

A certificate is issued only to participants who meet the prescribed attendance or participation requirements, complete and submit the prescribed assessment or assignment within the stipulated period, and pay the certificate fee. The brochure states that no certificate will be issued merely on the basis of registration or payment, and that the assessment must be completed before the certificate payment is made.

The brochure does not specify the attendance threshold, the form of the assignment or the submission window; these will presumably be communicated through the WhatsApp group.

Fee

  • Registration: free.
  • Certificate fee: Rs 500, payable only by participants who want the certificate, and only after completing the assessment or assignment. Payment instructions are shared by the organisers at that stage.

How to register

  1. Fill the Google registration form (link below) by 20 October 2026. The form asks for your name, designation, institution and email, which are used to generate certificates.
  2. After submitting the form, join the official WhatsApp group for announcements, session links and instructions.
  3. Attend the online sessions from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, 24 to 29 October 2026.
  4. If you want a certificate, complete and submit the prescribed assessment or assignment within the stipulated period.
  5. Pay the Rs 500 certificate fee as instructed by the organisers after completing the assessment.
