Symbiosis Law School, Pune, a constituent of Symbiosis International (Deemed University), has opened admissions to its one-year, full-time Master of Laws (LL.M.) for the academic year 2027-28. SLS Pune ran a two-year LL.M. from 2003 to 2013 and was among the first institutions in India to start the one-year LL.M. in 2013. The programme is offered through the Centre for Postgraduate Legal Studies, working with the Symbiosis Centre for Advanced Legal Studies and Research (SCALSAR), and follows a cafeteria approach to specialisation.
The programme runs over two semesters, is taught in English and is not residential. Online registration opened on 1 September 2026 and closes on 4 December 2026 (Friday), 11:59 pm. Classes are expected to begin in the first week of July 2027 (tentative).
Sanctioned intake: 140 (approval in process). A specialisation is offered only if at least 5 candidates are admitted to that group.
A three-year or five-year LL.B. degree from any recognised university or Institution of National Importance with at least 50% marks or an equivalent grade (45% for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates). Candidates who have appeared for the final-year LL.B. examination may also apply, subject to submitting a passing certificate with the same minimum marks by the announced date.
It is the candidate's responsibility to check eligibility. Provisional admission does not mean acceptance of eligibility; final eligibility is decided by Symbiosis International (Deemed University).
Admission to the one-year LL.M. is only through the Symbiosis All India Admission Test (AIAT).
No travel or other expenses are paid for the AIAT.
The school's page currently shows the fee structure for the academic year 2026-27 (Viman Nagar campus); the 2027-28 figures are not yet published.
No capitation fee is charged for admission to any Symbiosis programme.
A candidate falling under more than one category must choose one on the registration form, and that choice holds for the whole admission process. International candidates are admitted through the Symbiosis Centre for International Education (SCIE).
All dates are tentative. Updates are posted on www.symlaw.ac.in.
