Online Certificate Course on Competition Law (Indian and EU) at NUSRL Ranchi (4 Weeks, 17 Oct - 15 Nov 2026, Fee Rs 399-499)

The Internship and Placement Committee (IPC) and the Centre for Study in Competition Law (CSCL) of the National University of Study and Research in Law (NUSRL), Ranchi, are running a four-week live online Certificate Course on Competition Law from 17 October to 15 November 2026.

The course introduces the statutory framework, enforcement mechanisms and practical application of the Indian and international competition regimes, including digital markets. It covers anti-competitive agreements, abuse of dominance, merger control, and investigation and enforcement procedure in India and the EU, and also looks at career paths in the field: law firm practice, in-house roles, regulatory work, economic consulting and academia.

NUSRL was established in 2010 by the Government of Jharkhand. CSCL was set up in 2023 as the university's centre for competition law and policy.

• Week 1, Foundations of Competition Law (17 and 18 October): introduction to competition law, objectives of competition policy, market definition and economic foundations; Section 3 anti-competitive agreements, cartels, horizontal and vertical restraints and relevant jurisprudence.
• Week 2, Abuse of Dominance and Enforcement (24 and 25 October): Section 4 relevant market, dominance, abusive conduct and leading decisions; information, prima facie proceedings, investigation by the Director General, evidence and procedural issues.
• Week 3, Combinations and Contemporary Issues (31 October and 1 November): merger control, notification, appreciable adverse effect on competition, remedies and recent developments; competition issues in digital markets, including platforms, algorithms, data and emerging theories of harm.
• Week 4, Practice and Application (14 and 15 November): compliance, dawn raids and investigation strategy, leniency, settlement and commitment mechanisms; case study, integrated problem-solving and the final course assessment.

• Cash prizes and gifts: for top-performing participants. The number of awardees, the amounts and the criteria will be announced separately.
• Publication: articles by the top 20% of participants may be considered for publication by CSCL in collaboration with other journals, subject to 75% attendance, the Centre's publication requirements and editorial quality.
