About IREL (India) Limited

IREL (India) Limited is a Mini Ratna Category-I Central Public Sector Undertaking under the administrative control of the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India, with its Corporate Office at Mumbai. It runs atomic mineral mining and mineral separation plants at Chavara (Kerala), Manavalakurichi (Tamil Nadu) and Orissa Sands Complex, OSCOM (Odisha), producing ilmenite, rutile, zircon, sillimanite and garnet. IREL also operates a Rare Earths Extraction Plant in Odisha with a capacity of about 11,000 tonnes of rare earth concentrate and a High Pure Rare Earths plant at RED, Aluva.

The company has joint ventures with Industrial Development Corporation of Odisha Limited (IDCOL), Tamil Nadu Minerals Limited (TAMIN) and UKTMP JSC, Kazakhstan, and is setting up a Rare Earth and Titanium Theme Park at Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. Advertisement No. CO/HRM/35/2026 invites applications from Indian nationals for appointment of executives on a regular basis across its projects, units and offices.

The vacancy: Manager (Legal), E-3 grade

  • Post: Manager (Legal), Grade E-3, regular (permanent) basis
  • Number of posts: 3, of which 1 is Unreserved, 1 is reserved for SC and 1 for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)
  • Tentative place of initial posting: 1 at Chavara (Kerala), 1 at OSCOM (Odisha) and 1 at Manavalakurichi (Tamil Nadu)
  • Work areas: contract management, arbitration and conciliation, mines and minerals, land acquisition, environment laws, and civil and labour matters
  • Incumbents are liable to be posted or transferred to any unit, office or establishment of the company

Pay, CTC and benefits

  • Pay scale: Rs 60,000-1,80,000 (IDA, E-3 grade)
  • Approximate CTC: Rs 20.02 lakh per annum
  • Performance Related Pay is payable annually over and above the CTC, as per rules
  • Basic salary will be at the minimum of the scale, though a higher starting pay may be considered for deserving candidates as per applicable norms

Eligibility: qualification, experience and age

  • Qualification: Graduation in Law (LLB) of 3 years duration or its equivalent
  • The degree must be of a full-time or regular nature and recognised by the State or Central Government, UGC or AICTE, as applicable. For non-technical posts, qualifications through online or distance learning from universities established by an Act of Parliament or State Legislature, deemed universities under Section 3 of the UGC Act and Institutions of National Importance are also considered, provided the programme does not fall under the prohibited programmes of the UGC Regulations
  • Minimum marks: first class, that is 60% in aggregate for UR, OBC (NCL) and EWS candidates, and 55% in aggregate for SC and ST candidates
  • Experience: minimum 8 years of post-qualification experience in dealing with issues pertaining to contract management, arbitration and conciliation, mines and minerals, land acquisition, environment laws, and civil and labour matters in the legal department of a Government body, PSU, industrial organisation or law firm
  • Upper age limit: 35 years
  • Cut-off date for reckoning educational qualification, age and experience: 10 August 2026
  • Age relaxation: 3 years for OBC (NCL), 5 years for SC, 10 years for PwBD (with a further 3 years for OBC-NCL and 5 years for SC), 5 years for candidates from Central or State Government, semi-government, PSU and Government autonomous organisations, 10 years for IREL internal candidates, and for Ex-servicemen by the length of military service increased by 3 years. In no case shall the upper age including all relaxations exceed 56 years

Additional eligibility conditions by employer type

Candidates working in Central or State Government, PSUs and autonomous organisations must possess a minimum of two years of experience in the immediate lower scale of pay or an equivalent lower scale as on 10 August 2026, out of the total post-qualification experience required. For Manager (E-3), the immediate lower scale is IDA Rs 50,000-1,60,000 (E-2), CDA Rs 56,100-1,77,500 (Level 10) or Public Sector Bank Scale-II Rs 64,820-93,960. Candidates already in the same, equivalent or a higher scale of pay do not need the two-year residency.

Candidates from the private sector, and those in Government or PSU on fixed-term or contractual engagement drawing consolidated pay, must have drawn a minimum CTC during the last financial year of at least 50% of the offered CTC of the E-3 grade. Documentary proof such as offer letter, CTC certificate, last three months payslips, Form-16 and income tax returns must be uploaded. The minimum CTC criterion does not apply to EWS category candidates applying against an EWS-reserved post.

Persons employed in Government or public sector organisations should apply through proper channel or produce a No Objection Certificate at the time of interview, failing which they will not be allowed to appear. Selection process

  • Shortlisting is done on the basis of the information and declarations submitted in the online application, against the criteria in Table-2 of the advertisement
  • Candidates with experience in the mining, metallurgical, chemical, power, manufacturing or production sectors will have an advantage
  • Assessment is through personal interview, psychometric test, group exercise or a combination of these. IREL may conduct multiple levels of interviews if the number of screened-in candidates is large, and reserves the right to conduct a written test or any other test
  • Management may raise the minimum eligibility standards to restrict the number of candidates shortlisted. Merely meeting the advertised specifications does not entitle a candidate to be called for interview
  • Selection is based on interview performance, organisational requirement, vacancies to be operated and suitability. A waitlist valid for one year will be prepared
  • Appointment is subject to a pre-employment medical examination and verification of character and antecedents
  • Candidates called for a face-to-face interview are reimbursed to and fro III AC rail fare for E-1 to E-5 grade posts, on production of tickets
  • Verification of original certificates is done at the time of interview, or before joining in case of online interviews
  • Any dispute regarding this recruitment falls within the sole and exclusive jurisdiction of the courts, forums and tribunals at Mumbai

Application fee

  • UR, EWS and OBC (NCL) candidates: Rs 590 application fee plus Rs 354 processing fee, that is Rs 944 in total, inclusive of 18% GST
  • SC, ST, PwBD, Ex-servicemen, women and IREL internal candidates: application fee exempted, but a non-refundable processing fee of Rs 354 (inclusive of GST) is payable
  • Payment is only through the online payment gateway at the time of submission of the application. No other mode is accepted and the fee is not refunded under any circumstances

How to apply

Applications are accepted online only, through the IREL recruitment portal linked from the careers page. Registration opened at 10:00 hrs on 20 July 2026 and closes at 18:00 hrs on 10 August 2026. The process has two steps: Step-I is registration of personal and contact details, with OTP verification of mobile number and email, after which the Application Sequence Number and password are sent by email and SMS. Step-II is re-login to fill personal, additional, communication and qualification details, upload documents, and pay the fee online. An application once submitted cannot be edited or withdrawn.

Keep ready a valid personal email ID and mobile number that stay active for at least one year, a scanned passport size colour photograph with white background not older than three months (3.5 cm by 4.5 cm, 200 dpi, JPG or JPEG, 100 KB to 200 KB), and a scanned signature made with a black ink pen on white paper (JPG or JPEG, 80 KB to 150 KB).

  • Documents to upload: proof of date of birth (birth certificate or SSLC / matriculation marksheet), Aadhaar card, degree or provisional certificate, consolidated marksheet, qualification equivalence certificate if applicable, experience certificates from present and previous employers in chronological order, CTC proof for private sector candidates, proof of two years in the immediate lower pay scale for Government and PSU candidates, caste certificate for SC, ST, OBC (NCL) and EWS candidates, disability certificate for PwBD candidates and Ex-servicemen proof where applicable
