Paid Public Policy Fellowship at CivicDataLab, New Delhi (Stipend Rs 20,000 - 25,000 per month; 6 Months)

CivicDataLab (CDL) works at the intersection of data, technology, design and social science to strengthen the data-for-public-good ecosystem and citizen participation in governance. It works closely with governments, non-profits, think-tanks, media houses and universities to build their data and technology capacity for data-driven decision-making at scale.

Its current areas of work include digital public goods and infrastructure, climate action, public finance, urban development, open contracting, and law and justice. CDL has co-created open data platforms, data exchanges, AI models and citizen-led apps for participatory, data-driven governance in India and other countries.

CivicDataLab has opened applications for its Delhi Public Policy Fellowship. As a Public Policy Fellow, you will support research, stakeholder engagement and project coordination with public institutions, and learn how policy ideas move from research and consultation into practical programmes and partnerships.

• Research government priorities, public policies, institutions and regulatory frameworks to understand how systems work.
• Map stakeholders and identify promising partnerships, datasets and public-interest opportunities.
• Develop proposals, grant applications, concept notes and partnership materials.
• Write blogs, policy briefs, research reports, case studies and other public-facing content.
• Turn meetings and research into clear presentations, recommendations and actionable next steps.
• Help plan and facilitate workshops, consultations, field visits and stakeholder meetings.
• Work closely with internal teams, government officials and external partners to move projects forward.
• Contribute ideas to CDL's work on data governance, responsible AI, digital public infrastructure and related policy themes.

• Freshers, recent graduates and candidates with up to two years of relevant experience.
• Graduates in public policy, political science, development studies, economics, law, social sciences, management, technology or a related field.
• People who can research carefully, ask good questions and turn complex information into clear writing.
• Candidates who are dependable, organised and comfortable following through on detailed work.
• Applicants willing to work in a hybrid setting and join field visits, government meetings and stakeholder engagements.

Useful but not required: exposure to government or development-sector work, stakeholder consultations, public datasets, Excel or Google Sheets, data visualisation, Python or SQL, responsible AI, or digital public infrastructure.

The fellowship carries a stipend of Rs 20,000 to Rs 25,000 per month, depending on the interview.
