[Paid] Research Assistant, Project EXPUN at NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad (Rs 50,000/month)

NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad has notified one contractual position of Research Assistant under Project EXPUN, an international collaborative research project undertaken by NALSAR in collaboration with the University of Bergen, Norway. The notification is dated 15 July 2026 and is issued by the Registrar (I/c).

The project works on the execution of punishment, sentencing, prisons, rehabilitation and criminal justice, and the role carries both doctrinal and empirical research responsibilities.

• Nature of engagement: Purely contractual

• LL.M. with not less than 55% marks from a recognized University; OR
• Graduate in Law (LL.B.) with not less than 55% marks from a recognized University and demonstrated research experience.

• Prior research experience in Criminal Law, Criminology, Human Rights, Constitutional Law, Criminal Justice Administration, or related areas.
• Strong legal research and academic writing skills.
• Experience in empirical or socio-legal research, including qualitative and quantitative data collection.
• Proficiency in legal databases, referencing software, and Microsoft Office applications.
• Publications in reputed journals and prior project experience will be an added advantage.

The selected Research Assistant shall assist the Project Team in:

• Conducting doctrinal, comparative and empirical legal research relating to execution of punishment, sentencing, prisons, rehabilitation and criminal justice.
• Reviewing literature, legislation, judicial decisions, policy documents and international standards.
• Assisting in field studies, interviews, surveys and data collection.
• Analysing research data and preparing research reports.
• Drafting research papers, policy briefs, project reports and academic publications.
• Organising seminars, workshops, conferences and stakeholder consultations under the project.
• Coordinating with national and international collaborators.
• Performing any other academic or research-related responsibilities assigned by the Principal Investigator(s).

The appointment shall be purely on a contractual basis for an initial period of one year, extendable based on satisfactory performance and continuation of the project.

The selected candidate shall receive a consolidated remuneration of Rs 50,000/- (Rupees Fifty Thousand only) per month. The notification states that no additional allowances or benefits shall be admissible.
