Overview

The Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), Mussoorie, is inviting applications for the position of Research Fellow (Law). This is a residential fellowship based on the Academy campus, carrying a consolidated monthly payment of Rs. 75,000. About the organiser

LBSNAA is the Government of India's apex training institution for the higher civil services, located in Mussoorie, Uttarakhand. It conducts the Foundation Course for all-India and central services along with a range of mid-career and induction training programmes, workshops and conferences.

The role and responsibilities

The Research Fellow will identify and create content documenting LBSNAA trainings, events and activities, knowledge products, collaterals, website and social media. Key responsibilities include:

  • Curating creative content for knowledge products, IEC material, event collaterals, website and social media.
  • Producing high-quality, well-written and visually appealing content, and providing documentation support to training programmes and activities.
  • Building and maintaining communications assets including photo, story and video banks.
  • Archiving organisational knowledge assets and maintaining a comprehensive digital and printed materials library.
  • Undertaking field visits to study processes and identify case studies and best practices for documentation.
  • Process documentation of ongoing courses such as the Common Foundation Course, Mid-Career Training Programme, Joint Civil-Military Programme and Induction Training Programme.
  • Developing synopses, brief reports and dedicated documents on programmes, events, consultations and meetings.

Fellows are also expected to contribute to the academic environment of the Academy, including involvement in the Academic Council and assisting with the design and delivery of training programmes, workshops and conferences. The position requires extensive travel within India.

Who can apply

The position calls for the following profile:

  • Education: Ph.D., or having applied for a Ph.D., in the relevant stream the candidate is applying in.
  • Work experience: Minimum 5-8 years of experience in communications, preferably in developing high-quality resources and publications, video and audio resources, writing for publications, and handling media and brand messaging through social media.
  • Demonstrated track record in website content development and management, and in writing/editing articles, reports, brochures and newsletters.
  • Excellent English and Hindi communication skills, written and verbal, are essential.
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office; familiarity with design software (CorelDraw, InDesign, Photoshop, etc.) is an added advantage.
  • Readiness to travel.

Remuneration and terms

The fellowship carries a consolidated monthly payment of Rs. 75,000. Additional terms confirmed in the official guidelines include:

  • Accommodation: A furnished studio apartment (with parking) on campus, on payment of a license fee decided by the Director. Residence on campus is mandatory.
  • Leave: Up to two days for every completed month of engagement, plus a total period not exceeding 20 days during one year (pro-rated for shorter engagements).
  • Travel: TA/DA and Academy transport are admissible only for travel undertaken at the Academy's behest, at level-10 pay-matrix entitlements (equivalent to starting pay of Group-A officers, 7th CPC).
  • Facilities: Workstation, free internet, library access on par with Academy faculty, limited stationery/photocopying, and access to on-campus medical (OPD, medicines, investigations).

The engagement is referenced in the guidelines on a basis of up to one year; the exact tenure is at the discretion of the Academy.
