About the engagement

The Ministry of Defence, Government of India, is inviting applications for the engagement of Young Professionals at its headquarters in Sena Bhawan, New Delhi (Advertisement F. No. A-19020/02/2026-D(Estt.I/Gp.I)). Six posts are on offer across five domains: International Relations (1), Cybersecurity & Artificial Intelligence (1), International Law (1), Defence Economics (1) and Media Handling (2). This listing covers the single International Law position, which places a lawyer inside the heart of India's defence policymaking.

The International Law role

The selected Young Professional (International Law) will support the Ministry on matters at the intersection of law, defence and national security. Candidates with published research or specialised exposure in international law are given preference.

Eligibility

  • A relevant Bachelor's or Master's degree from a UGC-recognised institution.
  • A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in the field.
  • Indian nationals only.
  • Age not exceeding 35 years as on the closing date of the application.
  • Published research and specialised exposure in international law are preferred.

Remuneration and tenure

  • Consolidated remuneration of Rs 70,000 per month, inclusive of all taxes.
  • No provident fund, pension or housing allowance is provided.
  • Initial engagement is for 1 year, extendable by up to 2 further years based on performance.
  • Place of posting: Sena Bhawan, Ministry of Defence HQ, New Delhi.

Applications must be submitted by email to yp.mod@gov.in using the prescribed proforma (Annexure-II from the official advertisement), along with self-attested supporting documents for age, nationality, qualifications and experience. Incomplete applications, or those received without supporting documents, will be summarily rejected. There is no application fee.
