The National University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS), Kochi, established by Act 27 of 2005 of the Kerala Legislature, has invited applications for admission to five Post Graduate Diploma programmes for 2026. By a notification dated 11 September 2026 (No. NUALS/ACCD/GEN/MDAS1/5/02), the Registrar has extended the last date for receipt of duly filled in applications, along with the application fee, to 30 September 2026. The original notification of 9 June 2026 had fixed the last date as 31 August 2026.

The Five Diploma Programmes

Post Graduate Diploma Programme in Medical Law & Ethics (PGDMLE)
Post Graduate Diploma Programme in Cyber Law (PGDCL)
Post Graduate Diploma Programme in Banking Law (PGDBL)
Post Graduate Diploma Programme in Insurance Law (PGDIL)
Post Graduate Diploma Programme in Education Laws and Management (PGDELM)

Seats and Minimum Intake

The maximum number of seats for each programme is fifty.
Each programme will be conducted only if a minimum of 20 candidates join it.

The notification does not set out the duration, class schedule or mode of teaching. Applicants who need those details before committing should write to the PG Diploma office at the email given below.

Eligibility

PG Diploma in Medical Law & Ethics: a Bachelor's Degree in any subject from a recognised University. Preference is given to candidates holding a Bachelor's Degree in any system of Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Pharmacy or Hospital Administration, or a Bachelor's Degree in Law recognised by NUALS.
PG Diplomas in Cyber Law, Banking Law, Insurance Law and Education Laws & Management: a Bachelor's Degree in any stream, or a Bachelor's Degree in Law recognised by NUALS. Preference is given to those who hold a degree in Law.

Fee Structure

Registration fee (sent with the application): Rs 500, or Rs 250 for SC/ST candidates, by Demand Draft.

Fee for each course, payable at the time of admission:

Admission fee: Rs 500
Tuition fee: Rs 25,000
Library fee: Rs 2,000
Caution deposit (refundable): Rs 2,500
Total payable at admission: Rs 30,000

How to Apply

Applications are made offline on the prescribed form. The University's PDF carries a separate application form for each of the five diplomas.

Download the application forms PDF and print the form for the diploma you are applying to.
Fill in the form and affix a duly attested passport size photograph. The form asks for age and date of birth, religion and community, nationality, contact details, educational qualifications, present occupation and work experience.
Attach self-attested copies of certificates proving age, qualifications and experience (10th Standard certificate, Degree certificate and Experience certificate). Candidates from SC/ST/SEBC communities must attach a copy of the certificate issued by the competent authority.
Enclose a Demand Draft for Rs 500 (Rs 250 for SC/ST students) drawn in favour of “The Registrar, The National University of Advanced Legal Studies” on any scheduled bank, payable at Ernakulam.
Send the completed application so that it reaches NUALS, Kalamassery, Kochi by 30 September 2026.

Incomplete applications and applications without the registration fee will be summarily rejected.
