About IICA and the Centre for Insolvency and Bankruptcy

The Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA), Manesar, is an autonomous institution registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860, under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India. It functions as a government think tank advising on corporate laws, policies, governance and emerging corporate challenges, and delivers research, consultancy and training across its Schools and Centres. The Centre for Insolvency and Bankruptcy promotes research and professional education and training in insolvency and bankruptcy laws and public policy, and runs the two-year Graduate Insolvency Programme (GIP) launched in 2019.

Position and Remuneration

IICA invites applications for the position of Principal Researcher, Centre for Insolvency and Bankruptcy (01 vacancy) on a purely contractual basis. The selected candidate will be paid a monthly consolidated remuneration of Rs. 1,50,000. No other allowances or benefits (DA, TA, HRA, LTC, medical or other compensation) are admissible. The engagement is contractual for a maximum of 5 years, extendable on a year-to-year basis subject to performance.

Eligibility and Experience

  • Consistently good academic record with a Master's Degree in Economics, Finance or PGIP/LLM (Insolvency), or a Master's degree in a relevant/allied/concerned discipline or equivalent.
  • An eminent scholar with published research work in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline, plus a minimum of 5 years' experience in teaching/industry/research/professional work.
  • Alternatively, a candidate from industry/profession must hold a Master's in a relevant discipline, be an outstanding professional with an established reputation and significant contributions to the field, and have a minimum of 10 years' relevant industry/professional experience.
  • Desirable: PhD in the relevant subject.
  • Maximum age: less than 65 years as on the closing date (relaxable for an exceptional candidate).
  • The applicant must be an Indian citizen.

Role and Responsibilities

The Principal Researcher will conduct in-depth qualitative and quantitative research on insolvency and bankruptcy laws, regulations and judicial precedents; design and implement research methodologies including field research, surveys and stakeholder consultations; prepare research reports, papers, case briefs, comparative studies and policy analyses; track domestic and international insolvency frameworks and regulatory updates; publish studies and case studies; design and deliver short and long-term courses and capacity-building programmes; and undertake related tasks in furtherance of the Institute's mandate.

Applications, complete in all respects with self-attested copies of certificates (matriculation for age proof, degree/diploma certificates, and experience certificates), must be superscribed 'APPLICATION FOR THE POST' on the envelope and reach the Administrative Officer, Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs, Plot No. 6, 7 & 8, Sector-5, IMT Manesar, District Gurugram (Haryana), PIN-122052, on or before 27 July 2026, 5:00 PM. Applications may also be delivered in person at the IICA Reception. Applications received after the closing date/time will not be entertained. Only shortlisted candidates will be called for a presentation and/or interview.
