Professor of Law at HPNLU Shimla (2 Regular Posts; Application Fee Rs 3,000; Apply by 21 November 2026)

The Himachal Pradesh National Law University, Shimla, invites online applications from eligible candidates for the posts of Professor of Law (Regular). The advertisement for recruitment to teaching posts is dated 21.10.2026 and carries the number HPNLU-A(7)-11(Advt.)/2022-85.

The online application form is available on the University's official website, https://hpnlu.ac.in. The application is submitted by registering on the ERP Portal of HPNLU, Shimla (https://erphpnlu.in). No offline application is accepted, and candidates must read the instructions carefully before filling out the online form.

• Pay scale: Academic Level 14 (UGC Pay scale).
• Qualifications, essential experience and other eligibility conditions are the same as those prescribed under the UGC Regulations, 2018 for Professor of Law.
• Service conditions, including salary and allowances, follow the Rules and Regulations of the Himachal Pradesh National Law University, Shimla.
• The date for determining eligibility in respect of essential qualifications, experience, age and similar conditions is the closing date of the advertisement.

Without prejudice to the HPNLU Shimla Executive and Service Regulations, 2020 (as amended from time to time) or any other law in force, the following conditions apply to every applicant.

• An applicant must not be engaged or appointed elsewhere on a salary or honorarium payment basis.
• An applicant must not have been involved in any criminal case, whether pending or convicted.
• An applicant must not be facing any disciplinary proceeding before the Bar Council of India, the Bar Council of the State or any other authority.
• Applicants serving in Government or Public Sector Undertakings, including universities, boards and autonomous bodies, must submit a No Objection Certificate from the employer at the time of the test or interview, if it was not uploaded with the online application earlier.

The prescribed essential qualifications are the minimum. Possessing them does not entitle a candidate to be called for the test or interview.

Applicants for the post of Professor of Law must fill out the prescribed API Score Form and upload it with the online application. The advertisement advises reading the API Score Criteria carefully before filling in the form. Both are enclosed with the advertisement: the API Score Form as Enclosure I and the API Score Criteria as Enclosure II.

• Register on the ERP Portal of HPNLU, Shimla (https://erphpnlu.in) and fill in the online application form with complete and correct particulars, to avoid rejection of candidature.
• Fill in and upload the prescribed API Score Form.
• After submitting the online application, download the application form from the ERP portal.

Note down the User ID and Password, as they will apply for all future references. Give a working mobile number and email ID in the online form and keep them working until the selection process is complete.

After the online submission, send the hard copy of the downloaded application form and all other documents to the Office of Registrar, Himachal Pradesh National Law University, Shimla, 16 Mile, Shimla-Mandi National Highway, Village Ghandal, Post Shakarah, Sub-Tehsil Dhami, Dist. Shimla - 171014 (Himachal Pradesh). The hard copy must reach the University by 28.11.2026 (05:00 P.M.).

• Attach all supporting documents and certificates for the specific API points claimed in the API Score Form.
• Enclose copies of supporting documents for every publication claimed, including the cover page of the publication, copyright, ISSN/ISBN number and authorial page.

The application fee is Rs 3,000. No mode other than online payment, through the payment gateway prescribed and available on the University's recruitment portal (the ERP Portal), is acceptable for depositing the fee. The fee is non-refundable, and applications without the requisite fee are rejected.

• Where the number of applications is large and it is not feasible to test or interview everyone, the University may restrict the number of candidates to a reasonable limit. It may do so on the basis of qualifications or experience higher than the minimum prescribed for the post, or any other criteria it decides. Only shortlisted candidates are invited for the test or interview.
• The interview dates will be notified on the University website and communicated by email, as provided in the application form, to shortlisted applicants.
• Any change of correspondence address, email or phone from the one given in the application form must be communicated to the University at once.
• No TA/DA is admissible.
• All appointments are made provisionally, subject to verification of documents. The University verifies the documents and antecedents of the applicant at the time of test, interview or joining, or at any stage during service.
• Selected candidates must join within the period specified in their joining orders. Ordinarily, no request for extension of joining time is entertained.

Applicants who had already applied for the post of Professor (Regular Basis) under Advertisement No. HPNLU-A(7)-11(Advt.)/2022-40 dated 30.01.2026 are not required to apply again. They may update their application through the ERP Portal using their User ID and Password.

• The University processes applications entirely on the basis of the information and documents submitted. If these are found false or incorrect, the responsibility and liability lie solely with the applicant.
• If a document or information submitted is found false, or the applicant has suppressed or concealed relevant information, the services of the selected applicant are terminated forthwith without any reason.
• The posts advertised are tentative. The University may increase or decrease the number of posts and may decide not to fill the advertised vacancy.
• The University may revise, reschedule, cancel, suspend or withdraw the recruitment process in part or in full without assigning any reason. Its decision is final, and no appeal is entertained.
• In case of any dispute, suit or legal proceeding, the territorial jurisdiction is restricted to the Hon'ble High Court of Himachal Pradesh.
