Project Officer (Group I) at the Delegation of the European Union to India, New Delhi (2-year contract)

The Delegation of the European Union to India and Bhutan is recruiting a Project Officer (Group I) for its Cooperation (COOP) Section in New Delhi. The post is offered under a fixed-term employment contract of 2 years, renewable subject to budgetary availability and operational considerations. The expected start date is 01 October 2026. • Contribute to policy development and to the management of EU cooperation projects and programmes in India and Bhutan.
• Act as focal point for Human Rights & Democracy (HR&D) and Migration projects, and ensure inter-service coordination.
• Initiate and ensure adherence to European Commission procedures in all matters of project implementation.
• Advise and assist project implementing organisations and contribute to drafting Terms of Reference for studies and policy briefs.
• Coordinate EU visibility and communication activities linked to cooperation programmes.

• Minimum of a Master's level qualification in International Law, Human Rights, Economic and Social Sciences, Political Economy, Political Science or an equivalent field.
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience post-qualification.
• C2-level (proficient) command of English.
• Legal right to reside and work in India.
• Good-conduct judicial extract and a pre-recruitment medical fitness certificate will be required.

The selected candidate will be placed in Group 1. The starting basic salary is INR 231,790 per month, with the final salary determined on the basis of verified professional experience and subject to headquarters approval.
