Leiden Law School (the departments of Private Law and eLaw) invites contributions to an edited book on Quantum Technology and Law, to be published by Edward Elgar Publishing. The volume is edited by Prof. Dr. Bart Custers and Prof. Dr. Vanessa Mak of Leiden University.
The book builds on the work and discussions of the 2026 Quantum & Law Conference held in Leiden on 23 April 2026, which explored how quantum technology can safely be introduced in society. It will bring together legal, technological, ethical and societal perspectives on the rapid development of quantum technologies. All chapters will be peer-reviewed by the programme committee and other independent reviewers.
The editors welcome contributions focusing on technological, legal, ethical or social issues relating to the development and use of quantum technology. Multidisciplinary perspectives are particularly encouraged. Indicative themes include:
The call is open to academics, researchers and practitioners working at the intersection of quantum technology and law. Contributions presented during the 2026 Quantum & Law conference, as well as new submissions aligned with the scope, are welcome. Law is a core eligible discipline, alongside complementary technological, ethical and social-science perspectives.
To express interest, authors must submit a proposal containing the title, author information, an abstract of 150-250 words and five keywords.
There is no submission or publication fee mentioned for contributing to the edited volume.

The volume will be published by Edward Elgar Publishing, a reputable international academic publisher. All chapters undergo peer review by the programme committee and independent reviewers. Selected authors will be invited to submit draft chapters, followed by editorial feedback and a camera-ready stage ahead of publication.
