The American Society of International Law (ASIL), headquartered in Washington DC, lists this online session as an ASIL Event on its events calendar. It is the online launch of the book ‘The International Law of Non-International Armed Conflict’, under the title “Regulating Today’s Non-International Armed Conflicts: From Law to Practice”.
ASIL notes that most armed conflicts today are non-international armed conflicts (NIACs), in which one or more organised non-State armed groups (NSAGs) fight with a certain level of intensity, either between themselves or against State forces. Citing the ICRC, the event page records that in 2024 the number of NIACs had tripled since 2000, from 30 to about 100, with more than 130 NSAGs party to such conflicts. Given their prevalence and human toll, the session looks at how international law regulates the conduct of the parties and protects individuals. The authors and panelists working in diplomacy, academia and humanitarian action will discuss how various facets of the book are of use in their work.
The launch takes place on Monday, 23 November 2026, from 10:30 am to 11:30 am US Eastern Time (15:30 to 16:30 UTC, as given in ASIL’s calendar export). For participants in India this is 9:00 pm to 10:00 pm IST on 23 November 2026. The event is held online.
The event will interest law students, researchers and practitioners working on international humanitarian law, the law of armed conflict and public international law. The ASIL listing does not restrict attendance to members or to any country, and the registration portal accepts registrants from any country, including India.
The ASIL event page does not list any registration fee. Register through ASIL’s online event registration portal, reached from the “Register” button on the event page. The portal first asks registrants to confirm their identity and add contact details (badge name, address and email) before moving to registration options and confirmation. Register before the session begins at 10:30 am US Eastern Time on 23 November 2026 (9:00 pm IST).
