Research Assistant at High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh (7 Posts, Rs 40,000 per month, J&K / Ladakh Domicile)

The High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh (Office of the Registrar Recruitment at Jammu/Srinagar) has issued Advertisement Notice No. 01 of 2026/RR/RC dated 01.10.2026 inviting online applications for temporary engagement against seven (07) vacant positions of Research Assistants. A panel will also be prepared for future/anticipated positions, valid for one year.

The engagement carries a consolidated amount of Rs 40,000 per month, paid as honorarium. Research Assistants are not entitled to any allowance or perk other than the honorarium.

• Age: the candidate must not have attained 33 years as on 1 January 2026.
• Domicile: must be a domicile of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir in terms of S.O. 166 dated 18.05.2020 issued by GAD, Government of Jammu and Kashmir, or a resident of the Union Territory of Ladakh for not less than 15 years before the date of applying and actually resident of the area.
• Qualification: Bachelor's Degree in Law (including the Integrated Degree Course in Law) from an institution recognised by the Bar Council of India for enrolment as an Advocate, with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate, and should not have completed two years after enrolment as an Advocate.
• Final-year/last-semester students of the three-year or five-year law course may apply, subject to furnishing proof of the law degree with minimum 55% aggregate at the time of interview.
• Knowledge of computers, including retrieval of information from search engines such as Manupatra, SCC Online, LexisNexis and Westlaw.
• Absolute integrity, honesty and good moral character: certificates from two responsible persons are to be submitted at the interview.

• Purely contractual, initially for one year from the date of taking up the assignment, extendable for a further period not exceeding one year with the approval of the Chief Justice or a Committee nominated by the Chief Justice.
• The assignment can be discontinued before one year if services are found unsatisfactory.
• The assignment must be taken up within the period specified in the order of engagement; no extension of joining time will be entertained.
• Research Assistants are not regular employees of the High Court.
• A Research Assistant leaving within the term must give one month's prior notice, with prior intimation to the Judge to whom attached.

Selection follows the guidelines in High Court Notification No. 578 dated 30.08.2016, as amended by Notification No. 1835/GS dated 14.03.2018, 807 of 2021/RG dated 26.08.2021 and 1287 of 2026 dated 07.08.2026, or other criteria deemed necessary by the competent authority. These notifications are on the High Court website and candidates are advised to read them before applying.

The date and place of interview will be notified separately through print media. No TA/DA will be paid for the interview.

Prescribed fee: Rs 250, payable online by 13.10.2026. The recruitment portal states that the application fee is non-refundable.

No. 01 of 2026/RR/RC, upload the required documents and pay the fee. Online applications opened on 04.10.2026; the last date for online applications and for the online fee is 13.10.2026.
