About the Fellowship

The JSW Centre for the Future of Law (JSW-CFL) at the National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru, invites applications for a Short-Term Visiting Fellowship. The Fellowship offers scholars and practitioners a structured period in residence at NLSIU to advance research at the intersection of law, technology, and emerging regulatory challenges. There is 1 vacancy, and applications are considered on a rolling basis.

Thematic Areas

The Centre welcomes applicants whose work engages one or more of its thematic focus areas:

  • Law and artificial intelligence
  • Data governance and regulation
  • Health, biotechnology and ethics
  • Risk regulation and regulatory design
  • Climate, biodiversity and ecological justice
  • Technology and legal system reform

Eligibility

Essential requirements:

  • A PhD in law, public policy, or an allied discipline, OR ten years of research/academic experience
  • Demonstrated expertise in one of the Centre's thematic areas
  • Proven research activity with publications

Desirable: one to three years of post-doctoral experience, strong writing across academic, policy and public formats, and strong analytical and communication abilities.

Duration and Remuneration

The Fellowship is for one trimester during the academic year, with a choice of November 2026-January 2027 or March 2027-May 2027. Remuneration will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the candidate.

How to Apply

Applications are submitted through the official Google Form and must include a current CV, a Statement of Purpose or a three-minute video (YouTube link), a research proposal of up to 1,000 words, one published writing sample, a no-objection letter (if employed), and two professional references. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
