Symbiosis International (Deemed University), Pune, has opened registration for the Symbiosis Law Admission Test (SLAT) 2027. SLAT is the common, mandatory computer-based test for admission to the five-year integrated law programmes of the four Symbiosis Law Schools (SLS) at Pune, Noida, Hyderabad and Nagpur. The SLAT 2027 score is valid only for admission to these programmes for the academic year 2027-28.

SLAT is only the first step. Candidates shortlisted on their SLAT score then go through a separate Personal Interaction (PI) run by each law school.

Eligibility

Candidates must have passed Standard XII (10+2) or an equivalent examination from any recognised board with at least 45% marks or an equivalent grade. For Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates, the minimum is 40% marks or an equivalent grade.

Indian nationals and NRI candidates apply through SLAT 2027. OCI, PIO and Foreign National candidates are exempt from SLAT and apply through the Symbiosis Centre for International Education (scie.ac.in).

SIU reserves seats for SC (15%), ST (7.5%), Persons with Disabilities (3%) and Children/Wards of Defence Personnel (5%, SLS Pune B.A. LL.B. (Hons) and B.B.A. LL.B. (Hons) only). SLS Nagpur also reserves 25% of seats for Nagpur-domiciled candidates. Candidates in any reserved category must upload their supporting documents at registration.

Test Pattern and Test Dates

SLAT 2027 is a 60-minute computer-based test with 60 questions carrying 60 marks. It has five sections of 12 questions each: Logical Reasoning, Legal Reasoning, Analytical Reasoning, Reading Comprehension and General Knowledge. All sections are compulsory, and there is no negative marking. Persons with Disabilities get 20 minutes of compensatory time for every hour.

The test runs on two dates, SLAT 01 on Saturday 19 December 2026 and SLAT 02 on Saturday 26 December 2026. You may take one or both. If you take both, your higher score counts for the final percentile. Test timings will appear on your admit card.

The test is held at centres in 62 cities across India. You choose three city preferences for each test date, and test dates and cities are allotted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Government taxes are extra where applicable. Both fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Paying only the test fee does not make you eligible for shortlisting in any programme. You must also pay the programme fee for each programme you want to be considered for.
You can pay by card, UPI or net banking (Billdesk or Easebuzz), or by demand draft in favour of "Symbiosis Test Secretariat", payable at Pune. A demand draft must reach the Symbiosis Test Secretariat by 3:00 pm on 4 December 2026.

How to Apply

Register on the official SLAT portal (www.slat-test.org) with your email and a WhatsApp-enabled mobile number, then verify the OTP.
Enter your basic details and upload a recent passport-size colour photograph that is no more than six months old.
Choose your test date(s) and three test-city preferences, then pay the test fee.
Enter your academic details, select the institutes and programmes you want, and pay Rs 1,000 for each programme.
Registration and payment close on Friday, 4 December 2026. No changes are allowed after registration.

Admission Process after SLAT

Each law school shortlists candidates for Personal Interaction (PI) using its own programme-wise cut-off based on the SLAT percentile. You must attend every part of the PI to be considered. For all four law schools, the final merit list is out of 100 marks: the SLAT score scaled to 70 marks plus the PI out of 30 marks. The institutes publish category-wise merit and wait-list cut-offs on their own websites.

Official Mock Test

SLAT will run an official mock test on Friday, 9 October 2026, open from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm. It is available only to applicants who complete their registration and payment by 5 October 2026 (11:59 pm). The login details will be sent by SMS, WhatsApp and email, and you get one attempt.
