Special Public Prosecutor Engagement at Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for Lokpal-Referred Trials at Lucknow, Jabalpur, Ghaziabad and Coimbatore

The Policy Division of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), New Delhi, intends to create a panel of advocates for the engagement of Special Public Prosecutors to conduct the trial of Lokpal-referred CBI cases. CBI has issued four separate advertisements, one for each trial court:

• Special Judge, CBI, Lucknow
• Special Judge, CBI, Jabalpur
• Special Judge, CBI, Ghaziabad
• Special Judge, CBI, Coimbatore

The nature of the work is to conduct the trial of cases pending before the court of the Special Judge, CBI, at the location you apply for. Each location has its own advertisement and its own online application link.

• Educational qualification: LLB
• Enrolment certificate as an Advocate with the Bar Council
• Experience at the Bar of handling criminal matters in Sessions Courts
• A minimum standing of 10 years as an Advocate, with experience in handling criminal matters
• Experience in conducting trials of cases under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 is a mandatory pre-condition
• An unconditional willingness/consent to work on the general terms and conditions approved by the Government of India from time to time

Selected advocates will be required to be stationed at the place where the concerned court is situated. No travelling allowance or reimbursement of travel expenses is admissible for attending the court.

The period of engagement is a minimum of 3 years.

The professional fee of the advocates will be governed by the terms and conditions contained in DoPT File No. 225/19/2023-AVD-II dated 08.04.2024. The advertisement does not state the fee amount itself. No application fee is mentioned in the advertisement.

The prescribed proforma, attached to each advertisement, asks for personal and office details, date of enrolment, criminal-side experience in subordinate courts, High Courts and the Supreme Court, cases handled for CBI and Central and State Government bodies, important cases and successes, current workload, and whether you are working as a panel lawyer, standing counsel or legal advisor for any government body.

Applications must be submitted only through the online link on the CBI vacancies page, where each of the four advertisements has its own Apply now link. The online form verifies your email and mobile number through an OTP. Submit the complete application in the prescribed format along with the requisite documents.

• Incomplete applications and applications submitted offline will not be considered.
• Applications received after the last date will not be entertained.

The last date of receipt of online applications is 8 October 2026.

Only shortlisted candidates will be called for an interaction by CBI.
