Overview

The Constitutional Law & Public Policy Blog (TCLPP) invites blog submissions on a rolling basis. Run by the Gender Champions Society at Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University (RMLNLU), Lucknow, the blog is a platform for sharp, accessible writing at the intersection of constitutional law and public policy, with a special focus on questions of equality, gender and social justice.

If you enjoy translating dense legal and policy questions into clear, argument-driven pieces, this is a friendly home for your work. Submissions stay open throughout the year, so you can write to your own timeline rather than racing a single hard deadline.

About the organiser

Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University (RMLNLU), Lucknow was established in 2005 by the Government of Uttar Pradesh and is among India's leading National Law Universities. The blog is an initiative of the university's Gender Champions Society, which works on issues of gender equality and inclusion.

The blog itself is maintained at seclpp.wordpress.com and publishes legal and policy analysis on constitutional questions affecting marginalised groups in India, covering themes such as inheritance and family law, LGBTQIA+ and transgender rights, and environmental and social justice. The copyright in accepted contributions vests with TCLPP.

Themes and topics

The blog welcomes original analysis across constitutional law and public policy, including:

  • Constitutional interpretation and landmark judgments
  • Fundamental rights, equality and affirmative action
  • Gender, sexuality and the law
  • Public law responses to public health, environment, privacy and technology
  • Policy critiques and legislative reform proposals
  • Socio-legal, empirical or doctrinal pieces with clear policy implications

Pieces that interrogate the practical impact of law and policy, and that offer novel insights or constructive critique, are especially welcome.

Who can apply

Submissions are open to a wide group, including:

  • Law students and research scholars
  • Academicians and PhD scholars
  • Members of the bar and legal professionals
  • Practitioners such as lawyers, NGO professionals and policy-makers, and other professionals with demonstrable expertise on the subject

Co-authorship is allowed, with a maximum of two authors per blog post.

Submission guidelines

Please make sure your manuscript meets the following requirements before you send it:

  • The content must be original and unpublished. Plagiarism is strongly discouraged.
  • Similarity above the 15% threshold leads to automatic rejection.
  • The blog follows a strict no-AI policy: any submission with more than 10% AI-generated or AI-assisted content is rejected without review.
  • Word count should preferably be between 1,000 and 1,500 words (flexible, based on the quality of the piece).
  • Include an abstract of 100 to 150 words and a cover letter with your name, institution and year of study.
  • Submit in Microsoft Word format.
  • Hyperlink sources wherever possible. Where a source cannot be hyperlinked, footnote it strictly in OSCOLA (4th edition) style.

Formatting:

  • Body text: Times New Roman, size 12, 1.5 line spacing, justified, 1-inch margins.
  • Title: bold, size 14, centre-aligned.
  • Footnotes: Times New Roman, size 10, single line spacing.

You are encouraged to attach a relevant photograph for the subject matter if you would like a visual preview in the published post and on social media.

What it costs

There is no submission or publication fee. Submitting to and publishing on the blog is completely free.
