About the Yearbook

The Irish Yearbook of International Law is an annual, peer-reviewed publication devoted to scholarship in public and private international law. It is published by Hart/Bloomsbury. The Editors of the Yearbook are Michael A. Becker (Trinity College Dublin), Venkat Iyer (University of Ulster) and Owen McIntyre (University College Cork).

Call for Papers: Volume XVIII

The Editors invite submissions on any area of international law for publication as an article in Volume XVIII of the Yearbook. A connection to, or relevance for, Irish practice in international law is welcomed but is not a requirement for submission.

Themes of Particular Interest

The Editors have indicated particular interest in contributions addressing the following areas, though submissions on any area of international law are welcome:

  • Current crises in international law, including Ukraine, Gaza and Sudan
  • International institutions
  • Climate change
  • Artificial intelligence
  • Migration

Submission Guidelines

  • Articles should be 10,000 to 12,000 words in length; longer pieces may be considered in exceptional cases
  • A brief 100-word abstract must accompany the submission
  • Submissions must conform to the OSCOLA citation format
  • Authors must confirm that the piece is an exclusive submission
  • Selected manuscripts are subject to double-blind peer review

Call for Book Review Proposals

Separately from the call for articles, the Yearbook invites proposals for book reviews on recent titles relating to international law. Book review proposals are handled by a different editor and carry an earlier deadline than article submissions.

How to Submit

Article submissions should be sent by email to Owen McIntyre at o.mcintyre@ucc.ie by Friday, 16 October 2026. Book review proposals should be sent by email to Venkat Iyer at v.iyer@ulster.ac.uk by Monday, 31 August 2026.

Fee

The call for papers states no submission fee and no publication fee. Submission is free.
