Vidhwata 2026 Law Fest at Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Law College, Hyderabad [National Moot Court, Online AI Policy Drafting, Vidhika Telangana Seminar; 29-31 October 2026]

Vidhwata 2026 (Kaka’s Memorial) is the second edition of the Law Fest of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Law College, Hyderabad, and runs from 29 to 31 October 2026. It brings together three separate engagements: the National Moot Court Competition, the Online Policy Drafting Competition on Artificial Intelligence and the justice system, and Vidhika Telangana, a two-day National Multidisciplinary Seminar.

The college offers LL.B., B.A. LL.B., BBA LL.B. and LL.M. programmes, with LL.M. specialisations in Constitutional Law and Labour and Employment Law, and was accredited by NAAC with a B++ grade in May 2025. Registration for each event is a separate submission, and each event has its own fee and deadlines.

The proposition, Zenith Logistics Pvt. Ltd. v. Northstar Freight Ltd. & Ors., is a civil procedure problem set before the Division Bench of the Kaveri High Court. The five issues cover the conclusiveness and execution of a foreign decree under Sections 13 and 44-A CPC, attachment of a bank account under Order XXI Rule 46 CPC, a representative suit under Order I Rule 8 CPC, reference to arbitration under Section 8 of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act read with Section 89 CPC, and an ad-interim injunction granted despite a caveat under Section 148A CPC.

• Eligibility: students enrolled in three-year or five-year LL.B. courses in the current academic year at any recognised law school, college or university in India.
• Team: three members (two speakers and one researcher) from the same institution. Each institution may send two teams.
• Rounds: preliminary rounds (each team argues both sides), then semi-finals and finals; quarter-finals are added if more than 10 teams take part. Knockout rounds follow the preliminaries, and ties are broken on memorial scores.
• Researcher’s Test: a written and an oral round on 31 October 2026.
• Language and dress: English only; formal advocate’s attire. Teams are identified only by an allotted team code.

• Register online through the moot registration form by 10 October 2026.
• Email a scanned copy of the NOC form, duly filled and signed by the college authority, to vidhwata.dbralc@gmail.com with the subject “MOOT COURT REG” by 10 October 2026.
• Registration fee: Rs 3,000 per team; Rs 6,000 per team with accommodation.
• Memorials for both sides are mandatory. Soft copies in both Word and PDF must reach vidhwata.dbralc@gmail.com, with the team code in the subject, by 25 October 2026 (23:59 IST). Late submissions are penalised.
• Four bound hard copies of each side are due on 30 October 2026 by 10 AM (Appellant in blue, Respondent in red covers; staple binding only).
• Arguments must not exceed 25 pages; Times New Roman, one-inch margins, page numbers at the top right. Plagiarism or AI content attracts penalties.
• Queries on the proposition must reach vidhwata.dbralc@gmail.com by 30 September 2026.

Participants draft a comprehensive policy framework for the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence in India’s justice system: courts, legal aid institutions, law-enforcement agencies and the legal profession. The rules ask drafts to address meaningful human oversight, transparency and disclosure, protection of confidential legal information, algorithmic bias and errors, professional and ethical duties, review and remedies for AI-caused harm, the functions that must stay with human decision-makers, and due process and judicial independence.

• Mode: online.
• Eligibility: law students in UG or PG programmes and research scholars (the brochure describes the event as open to all).
• Participation: individually or as a team of two.
• Structure: cover page with team code, title, abstract, existing jurisprudence, statement of problem, definitions, policy statement, implementation procedure, cost-benefit analysis and concluding remarks.
• Format: up to 10 pages excluding the cover; Times New Roman 12, 1.5 spacing, justified, one-inch margins; footnotes in Times New Roman 10 following Bluebook 21st edition. Similarity and AI content up to 10% only.

• Register through the policy drafting form by 15 October 2026 (11:59 PM), attaching a screenshot of the payment. Registration is confirmed only when the team receives a confirmation email with its team code.
• Fee: Rs 1,000 per team, non-refundable.
• Submit the draft by email only to vidhwata.dbralc@gmail.com by 20 October 2026, in both Word and PDF (not password protected). Name the file “TEAM CODE - POLICY DRAFT” and use the subject “TEAM CODE - POLICY DRAFT SUBMISSION”. The draft must carry no names or college details.
• Marking: knowledge, originality and innovation, research and analysis, quality of drafting, and practical applicability (20 marks each).
• A 50% similarity between two or more drafts leads to disqualification.

A two-day seminar on 29 and 30 October 2026 that explores Telangana’s legal journey through law, governance, constitutional development, judicial evolution and legislative reform. Selected papers will be considered for publication in an ISBN/ISSN edited volume.

Sub-themes include:

• Evolution of legal systems in Telangana; justice under the Satavahanas and Kakatiyas; judicial administration in Hyderabad State; codification under the Nizams and its legacy.
• Constitutional evolution of Telangana; Article 371D; federalism, state reorganisation and the formation of Telangana.
• Landmark judgments of the Telangana High Court; PIL and constitutional governance; human rights jurisprudence.
• Labour law reforms and gig and platform workers; the Telangana Advocates Protection Act, 2026.
• Tribal rights, Scheduled Areas and forest governance; environmental governance and sustainable development.
• Digital governance and e-courts; urban and municipal law; legal aid and ADR; AI, cyber law and data protection; future directions in judicial reform.

• Open to law students, research scholars, faculty members, practising lawyers and other interested professionals and stakeholders.
• Register through the seminar form with the paper title and a 250-300 word abstract (Word or PDF) by 10 October 2026.

• Fee: Rs 800 for students and PhD scholars; Rs 1,000 for academicians and professionals; Rs 500 for participation only.
• Full paper: 3,000-5,000 words excluding footnotes; Times New Roman 12, 1.5 spacing, A4; footnotes in Times New Roman 10 following Bluebook 20th edition or ILI style. Plagiarism up to 10%; AI-generated or AI-assisted content is prohibited.
• Presenters get 8-10 minutes; slides must be sent two days in advance. Papers are judged on originality, clarity, use of legal sources, presentation and response to questions.
• Those who registered earlier for Vidhika Telangana need not register again and may send their abstract and payment details by email.

• All oral and written submissions are in English.
• Canvassing, lobbying or disclosure of identity for favours is prohibited.
• Moot certificates are given only at the valedictory ceremony to participants present there. All registered participants of the policy drafting competition and the seminar receive certificates of participation.
