The National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam (NLUJA), Guwahati has issued notification No. RO/Recruitment/Contractual/2025/400 dated 13 July 2026 inviting interested and eligible candidates to attend a walk-in interview for empanelment with the University as a Guest Faculty Member of Law.
Empanelment is on a purely temporary basis, and appointments are made as and when the University requires them.
A candidate must satisfy either of the following:
Candidates awarded a Ph.D. degree in accordance with the UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2018 and their amendments may be exempted from NET/SLET/SET.
Candidates registered for the Ph.D. programme prior to 11 July 2009 are governed by the then existing Ordinances/Bye-laws/Regulations of the awarding institution and are exempt from NET/SLET/SET, subject to all of the following being certified by the Registrar or the Dean (Academic Affairs) of the University concerned: the Ph.D. was awarded in a regular mode; the thesis was evaluated by at least two external examiners; an open Ph.D. viva voce was conducted; the candidate has published two research papers from the Ph.D. work, at least one in a refereed journal; and the candidate has presented at least two papers based on the Ph.D. work in conferences or seminars sponsored, funded or supported by the UGC, ICSSR, CSIR or a similar agency.
NET/SLET/SET is also not required for Master's programmes in disciplines for which the UGC, CSIR or a similar UGC-accredited test is not conducted.
A relaxation of 5% is allowed at both the Bachelor's and the Master's level for candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Other Backward Classes (Non-creamy Layer), and Differently abled candidates covering (a) blindness and low vision; (b) deaf and hard of hearing; (c) locomotor disability including cerebral palsy, leprosy cured, dwarfism, acid-attack victims and muscular dystrophy; (d) autism, intellectual disability, specific learning disability and mental illness; and (e) multiple disabilities from amongst (a) to (d) including deaf-blindness.
The eligibility mark of 55% and the 5% relaxation are computed on the qualifying marks alone, without any grace mark procedure.
The notification states the pay as INR 1,500 per class for a Guest Faculty of Law.
