Research Officer / Assistant (IPR) at DPIIT-IPR Chair, Panjab University, Chandigarh (1 Post, Rs 47,000-57,000 per month)

The Office of the IPR Chair at Panjab University, Chandigarh has invited applications for one post of Research Officer / Assistant (Advertisement Ref. No. 750/IPR-PU, dated 16 September 2026). The Chair is sponsored by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, under the Scheme for Pedagogy and Research in IPRs for Holistic Education and Academia (SPRIHA). The DPIIT-IPR Chair Professor is Dr. Shamsher S. Kanwar.

• Carrying out research related to IPR.
• Preparing documents, reports, surveys, data presentations and lectures on IPR.
• Conducting online and offline events such as workshops, seminars, panel discussions and conferences.
• Any other IPR-related responsibility assigned by the IPR Chair.

• Salary: Rs 57,000 per month fixed for a candidate with an LLM or other postgraduate degree, and Rs 47,000 per month fixed for a candidate with a graduate degree (consolidated).
• Nature of post: Purely temporary and ad hoc, co-terminus with the DPIIT-IPR Chair (SPRIHA scheme) of the Government of India. The appointment is valid while the scheme exists and may be extended year to year based on performance.
• Tenure: Initially six months or one year, which may be extended on satisfactory work and performance.
• Joining: The selected candidate must join within one week of receiving the selection intimation.

Minimum qualification: A postgraduate degree from a UGC-recognised university.

The notice lists the following as the points on which preference will be given:

• Having qualified a course on IPR at UG, PG or Pre-Ph.D. level, with proof.
• Knowledge of computers and MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Form generation, AI and so on).
• Excellent communication and writing skills.
• Minimum 55% marks in UG and PG, with relaxation for SC, ST and others as per Government of India guidelines.
• Age up to 40 years. Age is counted as on the closing date of application submission.

Applicants are scored out of 50 marks (Annexure-II) on the following criteria:

• Academic qualifications: 10 marks
• IPR-related experience (courses, research projects, publications, work experience): 15 marks
• Computer literacy and experience (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Forms, AI, databases): 10 marks
• Communication skill (courses, workshops, conferences, symposia): 5 marks
• Interview (IPR knowledge 5, communication skill / aptitude for research 3, general knowledge 2): 10 marks

Marks are given only where proof of the claim is attached, and only for courses studied and qualified at government-approved organisations or bodies. The top eight candidates on the merit list will be informed by email to appear for an in-person interview. The merit list will be displayed on the IPR Chair notice board and the Panjab University website.

The format asks for personal details with a self-signed passport-size photograph, academic qualifications from 10+2 to post-doctorate (including UGC/CSIR JRF/NET and any IPR course), and work or research experience, particularly in the IPR domain.
